Converge was madness:

I'm somewhere in there, up at the front. Left with a few bruises.

Just recently got into a sold out show of Paul Banks with the Neighbourhood at the Observatory in the OC. I got there early and spent an hour walking up and down the line looking for 2 extra tickets. Only ended up paying $60 for 2, not bad.

There's a couple more shows going down this month I'd like to see but I only have so much $$$ I'm gonna have to pick and choose. haha.

The Menzingers
La Dispute

Left for Hot Water Music cause they suck and the venue was being female dogy about cameras.

I just bought my ticket, seeing them February 8th. I should have caught La Dispute back when they were with Balance and Composure last spring. THAT would have been an epic show. I'm not too wild about Hot Water Music either. I dont listen to them nor do I really care to. But I might stay and mellow out. We'll see. La Dispute though...... Can't ****ing wait! haha

La Dispute was great, despite a short set. End of King Park was ridiculous.

They're headlining a set in Cambridge tomorrow, but it sold out so I had to settle on this opening set for HWM. :-/

35mm F2. I had my camera all built up into my usual huge concert rig (fisheye, flash bracket, flash with bounce card, battery grip) and then this asshole came over and yelled at me and two other photographers for not having press passes (just to clarify, I've never heard of or needed press at this venue; I've shot both Converge and We Were Promised Jetpacks at this place, both bigger bands (or should be) than HWM, and never had a problem). He was a **** about it even when we said we were putting our stuff in our bags, so I said whatever and broke my camera down to look 'small' and shot anyway. There were two other people in the crowd with SLRs, one of them waving it around and could have seriously hurt someone that he didn't say anything to, so fu.ck them. They didn't bag check at the door to tell us we couldn't have cams and yet 'we were lucky he wasn't kicking us out on the spot for having anything 'professional'.

Security guards are really hit and miss. Some are chill, others are just assholes. I got thrown out of a local venue for criwd surfing one time. I'd done it before and i've done it after. From talking to the staff the guy just had a serious case of sand in the vagina and they let me back in so i could catch the last 15 minutes lf that headlining set. Hot water music seems like they'd be "one of those bands" though. They've been around long enough to where they probably think they're bigger then they actually are. **** em though. Got good shots of la dispute though!
