Have you ridden Apollo's Chariot or Raging Bull? Those should answer your question.

Nope, indeed..

But, judging by videos (shame on me), it gives a vertical pump in the back rows wich isn't really enjoyable (though Apollo's Chariot have a long straight segment, so you can recover before the drop).

For the pre-drop debate, I can only compare Black Mamba and Oziris.
I've also been on Shambhala, and its drop is more than amazing in the back.

Shambhala is also a lot steeper and taller than Raging Bull and Apollo's Chariot.

I've ridden RB and AC, and I agree Raging Bull is a hint violent in the back row on the dip, so the start of the drop isn't quite as effective as that of Apollo. It's still up there with the best I've been on if you include only rides of that general height range...Bull, Apollo's Chariot, Superman SFA, Bizarro SFNE, El Toro, Nitro, Titan, Steel Force and Magnum. Apollo's Chariot's drop is achieved flawlessly, since the dip isn't as severe, and the significantly longer flat section adds a lot of anticipation. The transition into the drop is almost instant (something you almost never see on first drops without a predrop), and you literally float between the seat and restraint until you hit the pullout. That all makes the drop seem a lot longer than it actually is. It's very, very effective.

Predrop vs. no predrop on a standard curving drop like those mentioned is really irrelevant to me. I still like the added bit of speed entering the main drop. There are so many differences in the ones you listed though and I don't think the predrop is a major contributing factor in the change in quality.

when it comes to floorless drops, I prefer hydra's over bizzaros, but thats just my opinion
What are these for?

True, true. And Black Mamba's kind of drop (aka high-banked at the top) can't be achieved without the predrop.

But still, for straight hyper drop, I rather like no predrop ; "Dive-machine effect" in the first-row ; ejector from apex to bottom in the back. (at least on Shambhala)

Ckidd, those two drops in particular aren't really comparable...one is a straight drop and one curved, and I'd say most people (particularly coaster enthusiasts) prefer a straight drop with ~0G or less. That has nothing to do with what goes on before the actual drop.

I'll say this: I've never been on Shambhala, but on Millennium Force and Intimidator 305, and despite the much faster lift speed and longer trains, forces lower gradually and airtime in the back row starts after the apex of the drop. Same thing goes for Nitro. On Apollo's Chariot, forces go from 1G to ~0G almost instantly.

since this is a floorless coaster with a floorless type layout, i think they are comparable when taking into account the pre-drop vs. no pre-drop. I preferred the off the lift drop of hydra over bizzaro's pre drop, or nitro's for that matter, but like I said its only my opinion. I don't any part of the last few posts will influence this design in any way.

That's fine, I'm just saying I'm pretty sure more of the reason you preferred it was because of the drop itself, not the setup. I like straight drops better than curving ones with positive forces. I too like Hydra's and Nitro's drop better than Bizarro's...but I also prefer Apollo's Chariot's and Raging Bull's to the others listed by far.

With drops so different (Hydra vs. Bizarro) it's hard to compare one small detail. You can say you *think* you'd like a certain feature better, but until you experience the other option (Hydra or Nitro vs. Apollo's Chariot) it's hard to say for sure...and this is coming from someone who isn't brainwashed into thinking you can't comment on the quality of a coaster without riding.

Come up with colors and theme! How does Makara sound for a name? (vehicle of hindu water/sky god (half animal half fish)) I have also discovered how photogenic this ride is..

I like the name alot and the colors are good, but I would like to see a color on the train that differentiates from the colors of the track.

That's really good. The only thing I can nitpick on is that the car color is a little too light.

Makara is good, I like that kind of name. (and it secretly remind me of McKayla, with my french accent. Uhm.)

Looking nice Kyle. What color are the supports going to be? I would suggest matching the train color to the supports. And some water interaction will help with the name theme as well.

Exhibit A:

Bright, off theme color, harnesses make a good contrast too.

That's my 2 cents.

I disagree on the "off theme" harnesses. I like a cohesive look on roller coasters rather than something that's mostly cohesive. I'm also very much not a fan of a sharp contrast between the spine/ties and the rails. Keep that difference subtle. I guess if I had to give you a specific color for what I would pick for the trains, I would say a gray color with a slight blue tint. And white-with-blue-tint harnesses.

This is looking really good. Like the others said just darken the train color a tad and it will be sweet. As for supports I'd start with a dark red or something and experiment from there.

I had too many issues with the first build. Now I have decided to take the challenge of building on a smaller scale. Ive been working on emulating the compact style of batman at sfne.

Dive loop looks a little off, but not by much at all. That Batman has such weird shaping.

I agree will fix

Edit- I am home sick today and after spending all morning doing this I have a basic layout and I seem to have worked out most of the kinks and shaping discrepancies. Anyone wanna test for me?

I'll test it, if that means I can ride it without giving any useful feedback.

This looks amazing! I love how you changed the shaping of the turnaround between the interlocking corkscrews; it looks much more realistic this time around. I'd love to test and give feedback.
