For reasons I cannot discuss, I recently obtained a plot of land and several millions of monies.

Instead of being sensible, and am going full-on Hard Rock Park and build myself a theme park that is doomed from the start.

Naturally, I will need a rollercoaster that is iconic enough so that if people in the future see it they will think back of that doomed theme park.

Now, I could design this coaster myself, but I am not allowed for reasons I cannot discuss. So, I need your help.

In order to avoid complete disaster, you will need to follow some rules:

The coaster must either have:
Steel track and wooden supports
Wooden track and steel supports
Wooden track and wooden supports

Or, if you are able to get it done with 3ds, something that it's between those options, as long as you don't build a coaster with a steel track and steel supports.

Nothing can be build (template) South of the line going left-to-right (in top view).

The track must be either 50 meters high or higher (blue line in side and front view). (approx 164 feet)

The track must not be longer than 1100 meters. (approx 3600 feet)

http://www.coastercrazy.com/track_exchange/detail/19596

While I expect to go bankrupt within a year, I need the rollercoaster to remaind standing for several decades until it will be recognized as a landmark. Therefore, special attention will be given to the supports during judging. Using only Auto-support will not give you a high score.

As for the track itself:
- It must be safe. Think about differences in G-limits for wooden and steel tracks.
- Speed does not equal adrenaline. A slow coaster with lots of twisty track and near misses is more exciting than a plain fast coaster.

Terraforming is allowed, but not preffered, since that has to come out of my Vegas budget.

All designs must be finalized and uploaded to the exchange before the end of Tuesday April 30th.
When uploading, please include the [NLC] tag in your track name.

I will then rate all the track and post the results. If there are sufficient entries, the top-rated tracks will advance to the finale.

I think that was everything. If you think I missed something or if anything is unclear, do not hesitate to ask me! Have fun building!

Does the addition and removal of trees count in the terraforming section of the rules? Or are we free to add and remove trees as we see fit?

Are we allowed to change the name of the track?
When you say 164 feet high do you mean from the base of the lift to the peak, from the actual terrain, or from the bottom of the templates?
I guess I didn't read the rules carefully enough.
Does the track have to start on the top part of the terrain? Can part of it go near the part where the water is?

You have an entire layout in 30 minutes? I'm still shaping my drop. I would suggest that you double check EVERYTHING.

I think I will make a Gravity Group. I haven't made those in a while and they're one of my favorite coaster manufacturers.

EDIT: This actually reminds me of that Speed Building contest we did. Kevin might've actually won with the 1 hour time constraint we had [lol][lol]

Its going bankrupt right? The coaster could be so bad that everyone remembers not to ride it if his gets done. Kevin might actually win because it will be so bad. Its like reverse psychology.

Like Hercules or Rattler or OTG or MS or ever SoB, all those are remembered for being bad and painful. Two are gone, two are getting or were fixed and the MS is a bit better now with minor care. But we still remember how bad they were.

Nah, I'm not really gonna submit that. You said it had to be safe.

I'd like my ride to be other the other side of the spectrum. Think Led Zepplin The Ride, Ozark Wildcat or Eagle's Fortress. [:)]

This is actually turning out to be a very interesting template. I'm really enjoying the valley around the river and all the advantages it offers. My only real challenge has been figuring out how I'm going to cross the river without obscuring the waterfall too much.

Also, there's no water above the waterfall [confused]

Nice template. I like how there are so much possibilities with it, but with the 1100m limit it's still quite challenging.

Can you post the file as .zip or .nltrack please. Track packager doesn't work on newer macs and I'm stuck on my mac for two weeks.

Trees can be (re)moved, no problem at all.

Yes, you can change the name.
Track can start and go anywhere with the stated boundaries.

It's a spring

Yup. You may use saws, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers and angle grinders. That track isn't going to build itself!

Yes, anything tool you like is allowed.

In that case, I've got a quite fun, unique layout in mind. That is, if I can get what I envision and keep it under 3600 feet (not gonna resort to building a wooden Sky Rush).
If I get into the next round (if there is one), I hope it can be a tight fit contest. I'm quite fond of those. If I don't make the cut, I hope there's nothing stopping me from just downloading the template anyway and trying it just for fun.

I downloaded this template, I have one question.

Although "Improved Friction" option is unchecked in original template, can I check this option?

Aw excrement! I'll have to redo some of the layout of mine since it was built around the improved friction being unchecked.
