Oh hey you guys live under a rock on CC, so I thought I'd let you guys know that v0.5 Beta is out. It's got a GUI overhaul, NL to FVD track imports, custom ground textures for recreations, and more.

The NL to FVD feature is great for learning how to take your Newton creations and practice "tracing" them in FVD++. Because FVD can scan NL files and give a read out of roll graphs etc, you can actually see what kinds of transitions you put in Newton and how they all go together. (And how the Newton smoother blends your graphs together!) Then, because this program is ready for NoLimits 2 w/multi-track support, you can start a new track alongside the old Newton coaster and trace it with a first derivative that doesn't have gaping discontinuities every second of travel.

There's even more stuff you can do but I'm too lazy to spell it all out for you guys so here are the download links to v0.5 and have a nice day. Here is PDF documentation as well. Oh and there is also now a YouTube page with tutorials from L Bosch (altlenny's partner in crime) if you want insanely German tutorials on how to use this thing.

Here's the download directory for both Windows and Mac.
Visit the YouTube page for tutorials

Hmmm, it's probably Oscar's site being stupid again. I swear I can't link anything from NL-E or anything related. The download isn't even on NL-E - it's on L Bosch's personal site so I don't know what's going on.

My advice: go to the NL-E Forum, find the "FVD++ v0.50 Beta: Discussion Thread" topic and just go download the thing. Granted, I can't link that either because Oscar has "NL-E" convert to the words "CoasterCrazy".

And if you're IP banned from the site then I guess you guys are out of luck. Oscar's fault!

Here are the links fully pasted without B.S:
http://lucasbosch.de/nolimits-tools/?dir=FVD%2B%2B

EDIT: Yeah it's definitely something site-related. I pasted these links again directly into the post above this one and they still didn't work. But they work without the [url] stuff. Oscar's site changes the links for some reason and puts in ampersands all over the place instead of underscores.

There's probably no point in including the documentation. The zip has the PDF included, and I'm assuming the Mac package does too.

I'm just posting the same links altlenny is posting on NL-E. In case people want to look at the documentation to see what it is before deciding on whether or not to download it.

Anyone else having problems with the new version? I'm trying to trace my Newton tracks, to better understand how to use FVD++ and I can't seem to be able to edit force sections. Am I missing something?

I believe in FVD++, when you export an NL track it only displays the track path, but you can't edit it unfortunately. :/

No, I mean, I import an NL track, and then start a new track ontop of it to trace the existing track. It shows the editable graphs, but I can't edit anything. I can add and edit straight and curved sections, though.

New version out.

v0.51 Beta:
- fixed two bugs leading to crashes on most Mac and some Windows systems
- minor bug fix in the options menu and section list

Here's the download directory for both Windows and Mac.

I've pinpointed my problem, but no idea how to fix it. After the first section, I can't get into the transition panel for anything. Am I missing something here? I've even tried opening it as administrator.

Do you have the right segment selected? FVD++ shows graphs from the last segment so you can compare. It makes it look like it's all one section but it's not. If you are clicking on a sort of grayed out version of the graph then what I mentioned may be your problem.

Holy crap this guy is planning on adding a new "physics engine" (yay). But more importantly he's planning on adding "post-processing". It sounds like it's going to be a whole new section of the program where you carry out your smoothing to export, etc.

But when I say "etc" he's going to add post-processing banking changes. So basically you can do the sh*t handbuilders can do (tweak banking) without turning your track into a giant pile of downs spaghetti floating in zero gravity.

He's considering two options, but the "first option" is likely to be the one he's going to pick. Basically you'd have your standard roll/second graph that you created, and then you'd have another roll/second in the post-processing stage that you could subtly tweak and change your results. So if I had a flat banked turn (0 roll/second) I could add a bump graph (say, 15 roll/second) and it would curl up the turn a bit to make it wavy. BUT it wouldn't change the calculations made on the track, rather it would just slightly "overbank" it.

So what you're saying is that I can add more roll to an already banked turn without screwing up everything after that roll?

Having so much trouble grasping the "degrees per second" thing. It's almost impossible to get a specific banking value that I want, and it's not just as simple as putting the same number but reversing the sign or dividing the banking by the number of seconds AFAIK. Other than that, this may very well be better than Newton 2.

Kinda trying to trace over this layout but so far just the pre-lift (the colored segments) is frustrating. I thought a geometric segment might be suitable for the pre-lift but I dunno. I want a banking and pitch angle of 0 degrees at the end. Also I am just now getting into the program.

Yeah, can someone please explain the degrees per second thing in depth? What I want is a specific roll value in some spots and to be able to play with the feature of roll by time/distance.

Why do you need a specific roll value? Like What is the scenario? Im sure I could help because I have never had any trouble getting exact roll values..
