That's probably why I like them then. Dubstep always just sounds so generic to me and is always about "TEHHH DROPPP OMG THSI DROP" and stuff that I just don't care about. I listen usually listen to electronic because of the way that people customize textures and tones of sounds and really fill out songs in a different way than other genres. I also like it because you can cover a lot more octaves naturally, which allows for more things to be happening at once.
But the minimalist, subtle-tweak songs are high up on my list. It's the reason Deadmau5 is one of my favorite artists. And lucky he's going in the direction I was hoping he'd go for - less party and more stuff like the
build on Fn Pig. The little subtle dissonances at 0:07, the rhythms woven in the back, etc. I mean it all gets loud and revealed later in the build, but the beginning is very hidden and I like things like that.
Then on top of that I just like melodies that chain together from different octaves to make a rhythm/song. Basically what Madeon does in
some of his stuff.
