Tell me about it. That X-Car replaced a perfectly good Pinfari ZL-42 as well. I would have much rather they kept the Pinfari, to be honest.

Klondike [g]old mine was my favorite ride at that park before they got rid :(

I agree somewhat, the loop was not what I was expecting every time.

Damn, that looks so hilarious. I wish it was still there, it was a lot more fun to ride than G-Force. But G-Force is kind of cool, too, just not particularly fun.

Less than 24 hours to go now! I'm quite excited, partly because of Smiler, and partly because it marks the beginning of nearly 2 weeks off work [lol]

TowersTimes are on site today doing their whole "Live", thing. If you're bored at work, it's worth watching the pictures roll in. We'll see the very final finishing touches being done before tomorrow's opening day.

It appears that Gerstlauer have signed the ride off before today, and all of their work is done. But the ride has either failed its health and safety inspection, or awaiting it. This has come from multiple sources, however, for me; if the ride hadn't passed at least some kind of health and saftey inspection by the HSE, then how could they have been allowing all the press and selected celebs to be riding the ride over the last two weeks.

It also sounds like sh*t, mainly because it seems highly doubtful that even somewhere as retarded as Alton Towers, would leave it til the day before opening day to invite the HSE to pass off the ride...

As a side note, was anyone else aware that there are real life female enthusiasts?

Oh sh*t I assumed that was a dude because only guys are coaster enthusiasts.

There is no way that man in the pictures above is a girl. Must be a really flamboyant gay or something. Surely you're joking.

*Disclaimer for those that think there are girl enthusiasts:* Elissa Alvey does not count as female b/c she is with blobb. Me: 1, You: 0

Pics or didn't happen. I see no proof that that is a girl.

[lol]

What a complete and total disaster. Alton Towers just cannot organise new rides properly. Not everyone who likes to go to Alton Towers has got Alton Towers on their Twitter, or visits the Alton Towers website every single day, or follows the construction online... so it's little surprise to see that thousands of people turned up expecting it to be open, given the Alton Towers only used Twitter and their website to cancel opening the day at lunchtime the day before opening day.

This is ridiculous [lol]

It wasn't just the queueling, based on the photos for TT Live, there is loads of stuff that's not ready. Alton Towers must have known the ride wasn't going to be ready for the 23rd, a long time before they actually cancelled opening. What a total disaster. They couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.
