yeah right, what a waste of time, I would rather go spend that 3 hours riding MF or the other better coasters there.

A waste for you, not me, I'd do it again! We still rode every other coaster there, even the kiddie ones, and rode MF 4 times over the 2 days! I think "other better coasters" is a matter of opinion.

I also heard that TTD's train got stuck at the top and they had to use the work train/trolley or whatever they use to get up there and help push it over the top. There were no riders on it just a test run. That's what I heard through the grape vine.[^]

It's true, I was in Hotel Breakers when it happened, we have it on tape. :D Then 2 guys came up and just pushed it over. And this may have already been said, but from what I found the TTD is almost always down because of it's new technology it uses.

Oh, and I only had to wait in line about 30 minutes on the TTD. :D Since I was at the hotel we get into the park at 9 AM, instead of 9:30AM. And at Hotel Breakers there's 2 ways to enter the park, one close twoards the entrance another almost next to the TTD. The close one is usually really far, so we took that line at 8 AM, then by the time the park opened, the line was back into that challenge park area, and we were about 30 people away from the main entrance. :D So then we rushed to the TTD, they said it was down due to mechanical difficulties, so we had to wait another hour, then when it got up and running because we got there so fast, my family were about 20 people away from the main gate! So there's a 10-30 minute wait there. So really the total waiting time was 2 and a half hours or so, but from the moment the TTD got running, it was about 20 minutes.

Still, a lot better than 6+ hours I've heard from other guests who decided to go on the TTD in the midday.

Hm, that's interesting about it getting stuck. Oh well. The longest I've ever waited was 15 minutes for the ride. And that was only cause I waited for the front (there were still some guests being cycled through). Most of the time, I get right on the ride without a wait. Well, I was a ride tester, but what can I say?!?!?

Top Thrills Capacity now is the BEST in the park. On several occasions over the last month the queue has been FULL and ive waited in them only 1 hour and 45 minutes to the station without downtime. Some days (and even weeks) it runs without fail. Then like ANY mechanical device, it can break. Whoever thinks these rides cannot fail is foolish. Not to say they shouldnt go down as much as they do, they shoiuldnt, but its just how things work.

The ride now though has a faster queue than any of the B&M's or MF. I talked to the head ride op for the ride (bigger guy, wears tie most of the time) during a long downtime and he said they did tests with all 6 trains and acheived around 2000 rider per hour. They do NOT do this however because in real life youd never have a full train of riders that dont need any assistance. So they use 5 to give themselves a buffer zone for people who dont fit or need help.

ATM the rides achillies heel is the kicker wheels. Unlike Xcel, TTD has to be pushed to a launched position. This also means those tires have to push the 8 tons (with people) up, onto the incline and through a set of brakes. (yes, the brakes are UP as it goes to stage) If these tires get low, or wet, it wont work. Its a pretty simple design flaw that is going to require some good engineering to fix. They cant use pinch because of the undercarraige. If they can fix the kicker wheel issues, the only thing they will have to worry about is blocking. And anyone knows, you can fix that by moving a few trains.

Wow that is a pretty big capacity. But like you said not really achieveable with visitors. Goliath at six flags holland using the same system of pulling trough the brakes which can't be shut down. For as far as i know it never resulted into problems but the tires wear of very quick though. There is so much stress on them the rubber sometimes literraly flies of. Usually there is a bunch worn of rubber in front of each wheel.

went to cp about 2 weeks ago, TTD was closed some open some. The wait was, at the shortest, a 4.5 hour wait not including breakdowns. At one point, the wait was at 7 hours!
