I've always wondered about this so I decided I'd put out at thread and get different people's thoughts and personal knowledge on this topic. I know Cedar Point is somewhat limited on its ability to expand because it's water locked on a peninsula. I've always thought they should make a board walk to put more rides on. Then I had another idea based on a game I played years ago. Do you guys think it would be possible for Cedar Point to somehow drain away some of the water around the park and expand the land mass of the peninsula it's on? I don't know all the details of how this would or could work. I was just curious as to what you guys thought about this concept and if anyone had any knowledge on how this could work.

To answer your question simply, yes it is 100% possible although not exactly how you described it. Check out the link below.

However, is this likely to happen? Not in the slightest chance. I believe the palm islands in Dubai cost around $15 billion to create, and there is no way Cedar Fair could afford such a project. A boardwalk is much more affordable, and therefore far more plausible.

I could see them doing maybe one or two small islands, with a ride or two on them like Thorpe park has done, but they seem to be fine for land and are currently phasing out lower quality rides and replacing them with better ones while not taking up extra space so I expect not to see anything drastic.

Lake Erie winter would absolutely rape a pier or anything in the water if they tried that

There's no need for them to expand. Building out off the peninsula isn't going to produce more revenue or visitors. Rides have a lifespan, something old will go for something new.

And they still have a lot of room. There's lots of empty space spread out that they could use carefully and there's lots of unused housing and parking lot space that they could demolish and use. Plus I think they if they needed to, they could build a parking garage in their parking lot to build upward and then use more of the main parking lot space.

^ They should probably make parking a garage anyway, its more eco friendly than a spead out parking area
What are these for?
