I know that the highest vertical positive is 6.3 G and the highest launch is 2.7 G, but what about the negative vertival and lateral ?

Out of curiosity what is the coaster with the highest G launch? I've been on dodonpa and let me tell you that's quite a launch.

Negative is probably whatever skyrush has on its hills which is at least negative 2 gs. Most lateral g's I've ever experienced were on twister at knoebels.

GRC trimmed down the tower of terror's 6.3G. Donno what the force is now.

I figured it was up there but I didn't realize it was number 1.

-2?! there's no way...

Most laterals would probably go to a wild mouse, if I had to guess.

French Wikipedia says that Expedition GeForce has -1.8 G, do you think it is plausible ?

Human Tolerance and Safe Limits

Positive G Head to Foot is denoted by +gz
Negative G Foot to Head is denoted -gz
Linear G Chest to Back is denoted +gx
Linear G Back to Chest is denoted -gx
Lateral G Right to Left is denoted +gy
Lateral G Left to Right is denoted -gy

The tolerance levels are taken from Paul M. D's "Bioastronautics Data Book," NASA SP-3006, 1964 "G Tolerance in 4 vectors".

Positive G-Force Tolerance

The human body can usually tolerate about +9gz with the aid of a protective suit. Positive G-Force becomes uncomfortable for the human body at +5gz.

At 1gz, humans exhibit no ill-effects except for gradual ageing as this is the natural level on earth.
At 2gz, facial tissue sags and hands feel heavy
At 3gz, movement is difficult
At 4gz, visual symptons and slowed awareness
At 5gz humans are at risk of loss of conciousness

When under high positive G, blood is being forced from your head to your feet so you 'Grey Out'

Negative G-Force Tolerance

The human body exhibits alarming symptons at just -2gz and on a roller coaster a level higher than -1gz would be considered dangerous.

At -1gz, humans exhibit a sense of pressure in their head
At -2gz, there will be a severe headache, nose bleeds and swelling of the eyelids
At -3gz, Eyes will bleed, vision will fade, eyes will feel as though they are popping out their head
At -4gz, mental confusion and unconiousness
At -5gz humans are at risk of losing their eyeballs and death.

When under high Negative G, blood is rushing to your head and can cause very serious 'Red Out' and cause your brain to bleed.

Linear G-Force Tolerance

Human's can tolerate up to 17 Linear G Front to Back and
-7 Linear G Back to Front.

Lateral G-Force Tolerance

Humans can tolerate high levels of lateral G if properly restrained, otherwise injury to the body can occur.

This is for a continuous long period of time right ? 'Cause I know that the record for the highest G force that a human resisted is 46 G.

Yes amine you're right. Positive G's are annoying sometimes because 3 G's held for like 20 seconds can be more detrimental than 7 G's for half a second. I've accidentally made looping rides that hold around 3.0ish for a good 65+ seconds and I don't realize it until the end, and it becomes a major problem.

For the most powerful launch, it has got to be Dodonpa. Not even close to the others that reach a similar speed.

Laterals need a disclaimer to not include wild mouse style rides.

As for the most negative G limits, I personally think those are numbers that the community kind of pulls out of their butt and assumes is what real life subjects you to when it doesn't. Every year or two a new "safe limit" appears from seemingly nowhere based on magical data (such as the rapid fire -1.4 air to +4.5 G valleys all of the intamins had to slam around a years ago)

Yeah roller coasters aren't really part of Wikipedia's "have a couple professors verify this article doesn't suck and then lock it" policy they had for major topics like WWII.

I would say that sky rush is definitly the strongest air time I've ever felt with el toro being a close second, imo -2 is believable
What are these for?

I agree it's super strong. But it could be because of how poor and painful the harnesses are that are misdirecting our perceptions of the G forces. It was definitely the most uncomfortable, painful, and strong negative G experience I've ever had.

I was told that El Toro pulls -2.2Gs on the Rolling Thunder hill.
1. Voyage 2. Intimidator 305 3. Maverick 4. Skyrush 5. Mindbender (Galaxyland) 6. Fury 325 7. Kumba 8. Goliath (Six Flags Over Georgia) 9. The Beast 10. Phoenix

Was it from the guy in the old Thunder Run commercial that said that it went 70 mph by any chance?

No, it was from other coaster enthusiasts.

Whatever the number for coasters is for negatives, it won't compare to coming around the bottom of a Zipper upside down.
