To be honest, I didn't expect Great America to get something new until at least 2016.

This was posted by the Village of Gurnee.

5. Public Hearing: Variance (Six Flags Great America)
(Six Flags Great America, located between Grand Avenue and Washington Street and Route 21 and the I-94 Tollway, is requesting a variance to allow the establishment and operation of a new roller coaster with a maximum height of 165 feet. The roller coaster is proposed in the County Fair area of the theme park, where the Iron Wolf coaster was previously located. The subject site is zoned C-S1 (A.P.) Outdoor Recreational District as a Special Use for an Amusement Park.)

On top of that, the Great America facebook page posted a video showing off a Guinness World Record folder. If you were to ask me, I think Great America is getting a yolo coaster.

I hope it's more like YoloCoaster than Superman. More than 1 train operation would be nice. I'm honestly surprised as well, but then again they have chopped a few rides over the years. Hopefully it'll wind around some things and not only occupy that plot.

How do have time to do these? The Iron Wolf is way too small to accomodate an out and back style track. I would also expect a second launch if it's going to be similar to Full Throttle. (They will probably call it the Takis Hot Rod if the advertising gets any more obnoxious at this park)

Its six flags, so, don't hope too hard. Even rides that can accommodate multiple train operations safely only seem to utilize 1 or 2 trains. very disappointing.

A passenger in a long distance drive with wifi can have a lot of time on their hands. It's enveloping some of the backstage areas.

All I care is that it isn't a GCI. I'll take a goddamned boomerang on stilts over a GCI.

Looks like a Rocky Mountain or an intamin if that wooden thing is true given the height of it. El Toro is 175ish I believe so the 165ft height statistic lines up, and I'm sure they could twist something around in that spot.

Plz be a violent intamin.

I saw on screamscape that they've seen RMC jackets there...maybe it's a custom RMC like Outlaw Run which I believe is still classified as wood.

You can buy the jackets they saw online (anyone can), and the RMC stuff was a joke since people thought they were going to redo only one half of the Eagle. The guy in the pictures was pointing at the blue side of the Eagle and stuff like that directly focused on it. SFGAm definitely has a lurker who tells them how to lightly troll forums. IDK if any other park has one, but someone is doing that.

Which BTW is one of the stupidest rumors I've ever seen taken seriously.

Also REALLY hoping it's a RMC or an intamin. Looking more like a RMC kinda thing since IDK how many records an intamin could break with a confirmed height shorter than El Toro without loops. Really though I'll take anything wooden that isn't a GCI since RCCA has died.

My only question is what kind of records are they breaking on a wooden? Most inversions? Steepest Drop?

Nobody knows yet. I'm assuming their will be some kind of first, most inversions, and speed.

Keep in mind a world-first could be just a style of inversion, steepest overbank, or a punt like that.

I think, if we assume the Daily Herald is correct in that it's wooden, it's more than likely going to be either RMC or Intamin like you've stated. Six Flags has obviously had experience with both of them, and, moreover, 165 ft is unusually high for a traditional wooden coaster. Also, a traditional wooden coaster should be much more difficult to break records with. I agree that it definitely could be a lame stupid record stunt like CF pulled with GateKeeper and Banshee, like, Tallest And Fastest Wooden Coaster In South-Central Gurnee, Illinois.

RMC is busy with Six Flags Mexico, Darien Lake, etc.

I'm guessing Intamin.

Intamin Woodie would be awesome... It's been FIVE years. By this time, maybe they want to remaster their wooden style, just as they did their steel track style in 2010 for I305.

Great Adventure must be the exception as they almost always run 3 trains on Nitro, Green Lantern, etc.

I'm surprised how far back this goes.

Screamscape supposedly has the full layout. They say its RMC not Intamin.

Should be fun. Will be interesting to see poly wheels on topper track.

I'm really impressed with the area they shoehorned that in......for Six Flags.

Childs play at most other places, but for Six Flags this is pretty narrow.

I think I remember RMC saying in an interview that would only do low G inversions, nothing that has a lot of force like loops, or dive loops etc.
Anyone else questioning the ride going over a theater?

^ I can't imagine that theater is staying. It would be kind of difficult to have a stage show with a roller coaster buzzing by every minute.

It's Six Flags, so it would be buzzing by every 10 minutes xD

If that was the case I dont think it would be on the same site plan.
I'm sure I'm wrong but it just seems odd to me
