There is a major computer risk for window users. It can allow hackers to control your computer. If you get that message about the NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM then you have the problem. You can download the patch here: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treevi ... 03-026.asp . They have rated it critical. It says to back up your hardrive so i think it might wipe out your hard drive. Im gonna try it soon.

i dont think so RCF cuz i have firewall and other crap which tells me that i am invisible to any hackers, but with firewall, if you dont want any hackers or stuff like that gettin on your computer you can set your firewall to Stealth Mode. This is wut it says bout that mode...Stealth Mode. Your computer is hidden and protected form hackers. Sharing is not allowed. This setting is recomended for the Internet Zone... thats wut it says. it shud help RCF so i dont think you need it.[:)]

And what relevance is this to the topic? Nobody cares that you have a firewall. The guy wanted to know if the firewall blocks this problem. QUIT SPAMMING.

As for if you should patch it or not, patching won't hurt anything, so I don't see why you wouldn't.

Firewall won't fix the problem, but it will stop it from happening again. The patch is realy the only fix to this problem.

Good luck trying to get the patch today. I have tried several times to run WindowsUpdate and the site is either unreachable or unbearably SLOOWWW.

Yeah it's better now. But on the 12th, that was the day that the news broke on the worm, so I think half the world was trying to update that day. Server overload, I guess. But all is right now, I have updated Windows and my virus definitions, so I can rest easier now.

All of you downloaded it, when i clicked to download it said to back up all of your files and i dont have any blank cd's. My bro said because of all the firewalls we have we dont have to worry about it, but i want to be safe just in case. So did any of you guys back up your files or is it not necessary

I already downloaded it but thanks for the link anyway. My bro recently also got a 60 sec virus. This one shuts down your computer after 60 seconds. You can stop this one by clicking start --> run --> and in the window type: shutdown t-a. This will stop it from shutting down allowing you to get a patch.
