No whining yet. I have a weird 4 banger engine they only included in fleet cars starting in 03 (car is an 03). My dad bought the car heavily discounted that year with 300ish miles on it. We think it's a rejected rental car since it only has cruise control and a CD player for electrical stuff along with the engine.

It's a bit odd under the hood because the engine sits in this massive hole where a V6 is supposed to go. The engine design was kind of stolen by GM I think (I have an Opel Astra engine from the early 2000's period). The engine, brakes, and the transmission are fine in the car it's just the GM plasticy stuff that is going. Unfortunately my mileage is terrible for a sedan since the car weighs a great deal for its size.

The rental car theory is based off of Wikipedia and the odd options choice it came with so take that how you'd like.

It's so weird how cars are rubbish in some countries but amazing in others.

@CK, I was expecting your car to look a lot worse lol.

I have some possible solutions for your problems AJ

My car has a laundry list of laughably stupid issues

I'm with you there haha. At least my problems aren't mechanical. The big issue with that though is that every goddamn thing in my car is some automated BS from the early 2000's. I'll do my list if you show me yours:
  • NEW! Coolant leaks out the bottom of the car.

  • -have you checked the radiator to make sure the drain is closed all the way? how much is leaking? Considering the problem you listed below with the temperature gauge I would check the thermostat and sensor and senders on the radiator hose. They may have been malfunctioning causing a crack in your radiator.

  • NEW! Tape player flips a tape 5 times over and then ejects it with an error. Can't listen to my iPod anymore. [:(]

  • CD Player eats CDs for lunch.

  • Radio/CD/Tape/Audio requires a fuse to be put in AFTER the car is started, and requires the fuse to be taken out BEFORE the car is turned off. If those two steps are not followed, the car will think it is being stolen for 4 days straight, which causes it to honk a lot and drain your battery to the point where it cannot be jump started. Also, you cannot do this while on the move because it requires the driver's side door to be open to access the fuse box. (I learned all this the hard way last winter, 7 times)

  • -honestly, I would invest in a cheap aftermarket deck, even the cheap ones come with an input and usb port so you can plug your ipod in using a basic audio cable. I got one for my car at walmart for 60 bucks including the aftermarket install harness.

  • A whistle/moan occurs occasionally when the A/C is on (sounds like a baby whale).

  • -possibly a loose or faulty belt. what ac system do you have? and have you recharged it recently or added refrigerant?

  • The automatic day/night rear view mirror doesn't work, so the fluid was drained so it wouldn't be stuck in night mode. Now it's in day mode, but it's extremely foggy because of the fluid remains. I want to get an aftermarket rear view mirror but the issue is that a computer light sensor chip is embedded into my windshield for the day/night sensor therefore making it impossible to remove.

  • The temperature gauge (important b/c my coolant is leaking) happens to work occasionally when it feels like it.

Again, try checking the sensor, sender, and or thermostat.

Thank god a lot of it is just convenience bullsh*t. Engine runs fine, transmission is the only thing not automated so it's not screwed up like everything else automated, hub caps look jank but they're just aesthetic anyway so the wheels are fine, suspension's fine considering I autocrossed it and it didn't collapse. So... if you have mechanical problems I feel bad for you. But there's my list!

Driving a small car for three years taught me that I'm not much of a car person. This is what I drive now.

I have 2 cars but am too lazy to get out of this chair and take a picture.
I have a 1996 Dodge grand caravan, and a 2006 Chevy impala.
the impala is the main car the van is.... well... it runs good, otherwise the floor is probly about to rust through if you know what I mean, its our workhorse.

Acura RSX. I'm a Honda fanboy, though a sedan is in the works sooner than later. Most likely the Acura TLX.

The Kenwood DDX470, the model name for this radio, allows you to add your own personal background. So I fused the Acura Logo with some roller coaster clipart.
