I've been messing with the lighting objects included with NL. I wanted to tweak the "Spot Light White" object so that I can have something a little more intense, and different colored lights. I'm a sucker for lighting and making things look dramatic at night. I'm not sure where to go with this but decided to do some digging.

I opened the Spot Light White.nl2sco with Notepad and saw some values that can be modified such as color and intensity. I saved the nl2.sco file in my park folder (I saw that nothing should be changed within the main installation folder) but am not seeing that object when I try to add it to my park through the NL2 program. Am I even going at this the right way?

Mean time, I'm going to continue messing with this.

I'm not sure if there's another way of doing this but I went into this to make it evening...

With the above noted, this is when I decided to mess with spot lights but they seem a bit weak.

The day/night cycle is an hour long, wait in the simulator for about 25 minutes and you should notice the sun start to set.

You can change the cycle to whatever you want.
I changed it to 5 minutes and within 2.5 minutes it was night.

I've crossed out your mistake. Don't open the file in Notepad. Instead, open it in the NL2SCO Editor in the Scenery tab and then "Save As" to your own park's folder. Then you'll have a copy of the file with proper file references, which is what you're missing. You can open that new scenery object in the NL2SCO Editor, go to the Lights tab, and modify the properties of the light to whatever intensity or color you wish.

Multiple lights & blending...can make a coaster pretty dramatic at night!

Which this now raises my next question: Is it possible to turn one of these lights into strobes or something that cycles colors?

In the editor, Park tab, Environment button, you can set the simulator time based on a 24 hour clock.

As a permanent time of day that doesn't change?

It's for that park only, but it's saved as part of the park and doesn't change back to the defualt.

EDIT: I should elaborate. That changes the default starting time for that park. Set it to 22:00 and that park will always start at 10:00 PM. Time will still pass in simulator mode and the Day/Night cycle will still run, but it will always start at 22:00 (10:00 PM).
