Update Your Email Addresses Please!

I've posted this before and it still seems to be quite a problem.

Many of you are subscribed to posts and the email notifications are getting bounced back to me because of your nonexistent email address. So please click Edit Profile in the top right of this page and update the email address to a valid one.

Another reason to have a valid email address in your account is that you will need a valid email in your account before we switch over to the new site. The reason is the passwords in this current version of the site are encrypted and the new site uses different encryption so your password now wont be recognized in the new site. The only way you will be able to login is to use the forgot password function in the new site and that will send you an email to click on and set your password.

So yeah, update your email address, please?

The really hard way, it took three of us in chat to get it done.

Talking of the switch over - are we satisfied all the posts, uploads photos and things will move over successfully?

Only ask as another popular web site did a swap some years ago and for some inexplicable reason lost all the links to all the photos - and posts that had carefully described processes backed up by inserted photos - made sad useless reading from that point onwards.

From the looks of it right now, it looks like everything will make it over. My worry is the differences in forum code used that some stuff will not be embedded so you'll have to edit posts to do the right forum code but other than that, everything "should" be fine.

Will the new site have a search function?

I saw a post a while ago where there was a description of how to make 2 stations merge into one with two tracks passing through, and I'm darned if I can find it now. If the poster reads this - where was it?

I tried change to new my email address these fail.. What I can do?

Well if you have subscribed to any topics you should be receiving notifications of new replies. Try this topic - it seems to be getting quite a few recently.

pfft, this site is a money pit not a money earner. Thousands of $ in losses per year. There's no profit here to make it into a DBA

I haven't had any problems receiving notifications for subscribed threads.
