I recently got skis that I've only used out in Indiana this year. I can't wait to try them in Colorado again this year on something other than spherical ice BB pellets.
Everyone else in my family has rocker with their powder/all-mountain-powder skis. I'm too much of a sucker for speed though, so I just loving having me some traditional camber (granted, these skis do have about 15% rocker so they don't treat powder like quicksand). I also felt like this was a smart choice because I live in Kentucky where pellet ice-BB's are the norm, so I like knowing that I have something more suited for that.
I have to say, I tried the Volkl Mantra's last year at Jackson Hole and they impressed me because they could handle such a variety of situations - but they just can't quite compare to confidence-inspiring grab and pop from some great groomer skis. Powder is fine so long as there's some corduroy printed on it. [:)] Dem g-forces man.
Plus I'm short, so anything with +95" waist kinda makes me feel like I can't get on edge easily. I can't stand the feeling of planks on a perfectly groomed slope - so much wasted opportunity to recreate your favorite roller coaster manufacturers on snow. I swear to god I feel like I can alter my heartline when I change styles of turns.
I dare you to call me a dork lol.
