Hi folks, OK which are becoming more popular these days between desktops and laptops? I noticed years ago that desktops were very popular back then but now I don't know which ones are leading between the two. (besides the consoles) What are your thoughts?

Tablets but they're potato. I much prefer a laptop. I can run games decently, even online so as long as I have a good internet connection. Computer is good is you really want ridiculous high fps and got the money for a good video card. Otherwise I feel a laptop is fine.

Laptops are of course becoming more popular due to their portability and they are on par with the performance of most desktop computers.

For everyday use, laptops serve most user's needs. However, a desktop will always be a better workstation where computing power and productivity is in high demand. Although it is fairly easy to output from a laptop to multiple monitors for productivity reasons and a laptop can also be used as a terminal to access remote applications and services.

When it comes down to it, it all depends on what you prefer, if you need portability and what you plan to use the machine for.

Desktops, I feel these are better because they can be upgraded MUCH easier. laptop components seem to be more expensive cause they have to be small, and almost imposable to put in yourself. desktops I feel are a bit cheaper, more powerful, you can open them and upgrade/fix/play with a screwdriver, although forget taking it with you.

also with laptops what you buy is what you get, desktops are much more customizable.
as far as consoles go, they are just a money traps and are worthless. almost anything you can do on a console you can do better on a desktop/laptop, excluding maybe a few games, but with emulators.... ya.
just my opinion I'm sure someone will disagree.

If you're a serious gamer, desktops work better since their GPUs perform better than those in laptops (even the dedicated laptop GPUs).

Do you want to max the setting on a seriously graphics intense game or extremely RAM heavy modelling software and still run at decent FPS? If yes, you build a good desktop computer.

Do you want to catapult birds at pigs using just your finger, on the train? If yes, you buy a tablet.

For literally everything else in between, you buy a laptop.

So personally: I'd probably say that Laptops are the most popular. However, like most people, I have multiple devices. Between me and the wife (to be) there are 4 laptops and 3 tablets. Having said that, what is a tablet these days? Because my phone has a 5 inch screen and has all the software on that my tablet has on it [lol] So maybe tablets are most popular?

Something how time has changed over the years. I use to like desktops but now I'm leaning towards laptops because of portability yet they can be as powerful cpu wise.

Tablets are great if you're the kind of mouthbreather that takes pictures of their food.

I'm using a 8 year-old laptop that can get No Limits working smoothly, except when I run some special coasters in NL Version 1.6. I'm happy with a pretty fast connection as well to surf pages. I also have an old desktop it's IBM Aptiva! xD 14 years went on and it's still okey-dokey though the internet sucks because of too old (-fashioned) specs. I can open pages with texts, but when I open contents filled up with images and videos, the error asking me to close the window always pops out! xD

If you can afford it .. I think a tablet or lite laptop for casual usage and mobility, and then your desktop for gaming.

Fact is, even after all these years, while laptop CPU's are pretty impressive and almost never the bottleneck for performance (especially from Intel), mobile GPU's really aren't that great compared to desktop variants.

If you're looking for maximum performance, go for desktop. I built an $800 desktop PC that runs NL2 on full settings with awesome performance.
