Greetings! I know there's not that many users around the bay area, if any at all. Anywho, California's Great America hosted an offseason tour for ACE NorCal (which I recently joined ACE...politics aside, please). Before I get on with this, I'd like to thank the folks at CGA for hosting such event for the enthusiast community! Not many parks in the area do this sort of thing. Some highlights of the tour:
Top Gun (Now Flight Deck) is sporting some new colors for 2014, complimenting the nearby Levi's Stadium. It's 49er colors if you're a 49er fan. If you aren't a huge football fan/indifferent like myself, it's a fresh new paintjob, adding color to the park's skyline. Top Gun has been black since it opened in 1993.
- A rare view from the park's Consulate building, where park meetings are often held.
We also got to go into the coaster shop where we got to see the new for 2013 Gold Striker's train being rebuilt.
- A coaster nerd's paradise :)
- No, you can't ride it yet, AngryGumball!
Ending the day, the park treated us to a free ride on Xtreme SkyFlyer! While I've been on this a few times now, that drop still freaks me out! 2 of my friends have never been on such so I had convinced them to give it a whirl. They're ready for more!
- Thanks to one of my other friends for snapping this photo of us just before we rise 170 feet!
The whole update can read on my blog,
Thrills by the Bay! A little side note: CGA opens 3/29/14 if anyone's interested in coming out this way and taking Gold Striker for a spin! I will actually be missing opening day as I'm taking a week-long trip to SoCal and hitting up Disney, KBF, and SFMM
