You can download the track here: http://www.coastercrazy.com/20556/Eden-Refurbished

So I've decided with the release of NL2, to go back to one of my favorite projects I've ever worked on, and attempt to make it simply gorgeous. I never truly felt like I finished Eden, and it has bugged the crap outta me ever since I put it on the exchange. So, I stripped the coaster down to trackwork only, and I've decided to re-do just about everything else. As of now, I've finished the 100% custom supporting job I wanted to have, and so I thought it'd be a good time to start up a topic.

As for whats left, to give a brief but general idea of where I am and what I have to do, here's a checklist of whats left:
X_Terraforming/painting
__NEW Custom Cartexture
__Lighting .3ds
X_Trees
X_Rocks
__Environment
__Misc. other .3ds

Anyways, criticism is welcome and feedback is appreciated, but of course never required.

Edit:

Progress has been made and I'm pretty happy with it so far. Support optimization is done, I've finished with the basic terrain, and I've begun to move on to the 3ds. Cartexture and Environment will be fit into my schedule at some point, but for now, I keep making slow progress. But enough of my rant, here's the pictures you came for:

Terraforming looks really good, especially your feature waterfall! Looks like it'll be the complete package!

Any reason for this, I used edits to bump topics without making bad bump messages :P

Did Rita/Desert Race inspire this?

UPDATE TIME!!!!! :D

finished trees and rocks, still need to finish lighting though. Mostly done with .3d objects and im pretty satisfied with it so far...here's some more teaser pics:

And yes, the big surprise this update is that I've decided to run one train backwards because......well, WHY THE F**K NOT?

there's still things to be done, but as I've just started spring break, hopefully i can get it uploaded in a little over a week.

Why won't Six Flags do this with like Kingda Ka, El Toro, or Nitro???
It would be amazing!

Kingda Ka should have a misty tunnel like this "Eden" creation, after 270 degree twist. Your ears may pop, though, because of air pressure.

Cartexture Update!!!

So because I decided to go with a more worn down look, I adjusted the track settings accordingly:

So I'm just about finished, and with the end of school coming next week I guarantee that this will be released within the month. All that is left to do is finish placing a few lights and then seeing what, if anything, I want to do using the in-game environment editor.

Yea, are car textures hard to add? Seems like more people used them in NL1.

Looks great! I rode your NL1 version and I remember it being pretty good, so I can't wait to see this one. Nice car texture too. Looking forward to this one.

In NL1 making a cartexture was as simple as editing one .png for the entire texture.
in NL2, there are four separate textures for each cartexture: the cartexture, the colormap, the normal map, and the specular map. you have to edit at least two of them: the cartexture and the colormap. in order for a texture to show up, it must be textured on the actual texture, and identically blacked out on the color map so if you change the car color, the color of the texture remains the same. it makes things a little bit more complicated and many people just dont wanna deal with it.

Yea I can see why, it's a shame it's not as easy as the old one, but at least the new one seems to give you more options with it.

Meta, you need to re-do the objects, I get errors because I have NL 1.8, not 1.7.
I think most people have 1.8 now.
Also, the objects in the Eden Rocks file need to be redone because it is looking for a user named Daniel on my computer. I realize that is you :P.
Any easy way for me to re-do it myself?

hmmm, you could always fake it and make dummy paths that lead to the folders meaning the simulator will read them correctly, but they wont do anything else....otherwise ill look into redoing the object locations, as long as i have coordinates it shouldn't take tooo long, we'll see, in the mean time ill remove it from the exchange

It worked, but every time you fix something, a new error popped up, went on 5 times before it finally stopped and I got it all working.
FYI I dummy foldered it.
