New roller coaster game.

Hi all, I'm the chief alpha tester for the next roller coaster design game. The developer has asked me to get some feedback on the name they have chosen for it. But first I would like to share some info about this game. Please understand that this game is only in the pre-alpha stage and screenshots and some information is still forbidden.

Some of the features will include hand building of the track ( similar to NL ).
Difficulty will range from novice (pre-built track sections) to expert (hand build, hand smoothing).
Full mod support.
Terraforming (literally, "Earth-shaping") with multi layer water support (waterfalls are possible).
Custom and pre-built supports (depends on the difficulty settings).
Full rendered and wireframe building support.
And many more features.

One of my favorite features is the construction mode. In this mode you must build a coaster in a pre-planned area, with in budget and built just like a real coaster is built. In this mode each track section must be supported before building the next. There is more to it, but this gives you an ideal.

The release date is planned for 2015.

So finally the name is X coaster.

So what do you think?




I will try to answer as many question as possible, but please understand I can't answer everyone.

It's hard to tell to be honest just based on what you've provided, but the name isn't bad. I do have a few questions though.
What developer?
When will screenshots be available?
Can you provide more info on the game? Or at least provide as much as possible?

Hi there, Oscar owner of CoasterCrazy.com. For the record, this will be a game, not a simulator, right?

As for the name, X Coaster, it reminds me right away of that track/train style of Mack. You might want to have the dev check up with the USTPO to see if X Coaster isn't trademarked already.

Thanks for the replies. Screens will come. The developer is private.

To be honest, its a game and a simulator. As a sim, think of it as NL on steroids, but yet with its features it can be used as a game. With the construction mode feature it does have money management, but yet you can recreate a coaster say from Six Flags.

The name was to represent that the software would be unlimited and the ability to experiment with unlimited coaster building possibility's.

Hi Oscar, the name X-coaster is spelled different, but I have sent the devs a email to check.

Sorry, am a bit confused, probably because of the lack of details, this seems very similar to TPS and RCT except with more challenge kind of tasks no?

and also why would you publicly announce a name but not grab a domain for it? So are you not allowed to give the name of the developer?

Yea, something just doesn't smell right here. Not being mean or rude, but that's like Apple releasing a product but not trademarking its name first.

Sorry if I have misled anyone here. That was not my intension. I have a few other forums where I usually ask for feedback. It was suggested that I ask for feedback from this site. From the NL posts, the members here have given numerous feedback suggestion for NL.

@turbo

There has been no official name, so no domain. The developer like most today try to gain as much feedback as possible from community's like this one. The lack of releasing the developers name is simple. Many games are started by abc developer, then sold to xyz do to a host of reasons.

Nothing has been released yet. The whole purpose of this thread was to gain some feedback on the name. I tried to give some information about the product so the community had some ideal of what to expect.

Again I'm sorry I misled anyone. I will try to update this site later, maybe closer to the release date.

There's a difference between a project name and an actual name. When advertising a possible game you should probably have some version of the product available for public viewing before deciding anything else.

I understand the purpose of this topic, but I'm merely curious as anyone who is reading this would be.
