Hey people

I was wondering about the Arrow model Loop & Corkscrew. For those who do not know of the model this is what it looks like:

My question: Did Arrow ever have a set layout model for it or did they vary in size, height, width, and anything else? If they had a base model, does anyone have any (or know where to get them) specs or blueprints? Because of my most recent tutorial I want to recreate the one at my home park, this is why I ask.

In the research I have done, they seem to have a set footprint. The only variation I have found is the double loop and corkscrew model which seems to be a little taller and has sort of a helix finale (Canyon Blaster at Adventuredome and Carolina Cyclone at Carowinds), but those are listed on RCDB as Custom Looping coasters, so I think it would be safe to say that all arrow standard loop an corkscrew models are the same in size and layout. I haven't come across any in my own experience that have differed, except in colors and possibly trains. I believe some of the more recently relocated models feature Vekoma trains and scrapped the old Arrow trains. Yeah, that pic looks like the exact same model as Wild Thing at Enchanted Village, Steamin Demon at Great Escape etc, etc.

The one near me and the one I will be recreating (if I can find specs) is Wild Thing at Wild Waves

I only know one thing about arrows, no pain=no arrow. Meaning if you aren't in pain during the ride, it's not an arrow :P

my neck hurt on loch ness monster on the helix part :( i swear the helix they make it crazy it goes up and down in sharp turns in it...

Oh yes, I remember LNM as being extremely painful to the neck.

im not surprise if anyone got a neck brace from one of the coasters from arrow dynamic

there's really only 2 painful parts on the ride: just before and just after the corks.

Anyone know where I can get a top-down look on the ride or directly from the side? I've been looking for 2 days now to no avail

I think I'm the only one who loves arrow coasters, and thinks lochness is incredible..

Every vekoma I have ridden (excluding disney) has been rougher

Yeah, I really don't find Arrow coasters to be terribly painful. The only thing that makes them painful are the shoulder restraints, the rides themselves are quite fun and exciting. If the shoulder restraints weren't lined up with the ears, and came down to the shoulder/neck a little more, then I really wouldn't have anything bad to say about Arrow coasters. As for a top down view, Google satellite or bing satellite views are quite helpful. There are quite a few side view pics of the particular model you are looking for on RCDB, you just have to look. The best way is to do a search for, say, Wild Thing, then when the description shows, click on the highlighted model name next to the manufacturer and select the coaster names that have the exact model you are looking for.

the unfortunate thing about the side view is that there is rarely a direct side view on rcdb. Maps and satellite don't give a direct overview unfortunately :(

Arrows have had their time honestly I think the ones that aren't really good will start going away soon. For instance I don't see Corkscrew lasting much longer at CP nor do I see Demon at SFGAM making it another decade. Rides like Magnum and Loch Ness however are a whole different ball game since they're special.

I'll also be very surprised if Viper at SFMM makes another decade as well considering they have Scream.

I don't think SFMM would want to lose a coaster especially since they are at 19 coasters now.

Coasterkid and TTD i think you both have a valid argument RE: Viper. As SFGAdv and SFGAM BOTH got rid of their Arrow Mega looping coasters(which were very similar to viper layout-wise) I was happy and surprised at the same time that SFMM did NOT get rid of their beloved Viper, which, if I am not mistaken, has been a maintenance nightmare since it opened. But it is such an iconic ride, that I think they will let this ride tear itself down like many other Six Flags rides.

Yea I agree, it will be like rolling thunder, once the maintenance costs for the ride really become too much, and the ridership is down, then they will pull the plug. But when I was there last November, Viper had a 30 minute line. I don't think that ride is going anywhere anytime soon.

Shockwave liked to crack its loop in half every year and was kind of the "bad" ride of the three. If I recall SFGAdv's version was "fixed" to prevent the loop cracking. Shockwave also broke an axle so it was killed at the last minute instead of Whizzer if I remember correctly. Thankfully Whizzer is still around because it's practically the best unthemed family ride you can get.
