The Points are back!

Over the next few days you may notice a new feature pop up in your profiles, points.

Yes! The world famous point system at Coaster Crazy is back and better then ever.

Here is a break down of how points will be allocated:

General

Logging In Per day: 5 Points - You will be given 5 points for each day that you login, no further action is required other then simply logging into the site.

Forum

Forum Posts: 1 Point - You will be given 1 point for each topic you create or reply to.

Track Exchange

Track Upload: 10 Points - You will be given ten points for uploading a track, and after 7 days a one time bonus of 10 times the track rating.

Rate a Track: 25 Points - You will be given 25 points for every track you leave a rate.

Download a Track: Downloading a track will cost you 2 points, but if you rate the track you downloaded within 72 hours we will return 1 point.

Medals

+50 points for Gold Weekly Medal
+25 points for Silver Weekly Medal
+10 points for Bronze Weekly Medal

Custom Points Allocations for Official Contest.

Social Media

Follow on social media: We will award 25 points each to follow us on social media via the links on the site.

Points will play a very important part of the sites future, so it pays to participate and be active in the community. They will not only be able to get you digital exclusives on the forum, but also access to Coaster Crazy swag.

I like this system, question though. are we starting with the points we had before the relaunch or are all starting with a set amount?

We'll be doing a recalculation of them. They didn't calculate properly before and we have fixed that.

The forums will be offline starting around 2 AM, in order to install the points mod. Downtime should be an hour or less.

All members will receive 50 points (standard new user bonus), and 1 point for every post. You will also begin to receive the 5 points daily bonus for logging in every day!

You won't receive points for track exchange contributions just yet, those will be awarded in a few days.

I personally stay logged in. Does it count each day we visit or every time we literally log in?

It counts every day you visit.

Alright, and just to clarify about the point-per-post, are previous posts counted and added in the beginning or is everyone starting fresh?

The previous posts are being counted, you will receive 50 points (because new members get 50 points by default), plus one point for each previous post. So if you have 1000 posts, you will receive 1050 points.

I'm about to take down the forums now for the points mod install, we should be back in an hour or less.

We are back now, everything was installed and setup and seems to be running fine.

Currently there is no link to get to the points control panel, Oscar will add that into the navbar later today, but you can reach it at points.php

I probably forgot something stupid since it's almost 4 AM now, so if you notice any bugs, post in this thread and they will be promptly drowned in pesticide.

If you rate it you get +25 points, on top of 1 point if you rate within 72 hours. The quick rate bonus does seem a bit low - I'd like to see those two values reversed personally.

That's cool, always thought this was a cool feature.

@King, it really doesn't matter if you lose points; it's easy to gain them back. You get 25 for rating a track, and 5 a day. So with that you could download 15 rides a day and only rate one of them to get all your points back, then do it all again the next day! Even if it cost 5 points to download a track, you will still be able to download 6 rides a day.

Cool. Now the points system is actually usable unlike before.

Since I'm fairly new to this forum, can anyone explain me what can I use the points for?

Back on the old site, points used to be used to do stuff like changing your (or other people's) title, various customization of said title such as making them glow and some other aesthetic stuff.

If you check out this post it briefly goes over that you will also be able to use them to buy physical merch and as noted in this thread "Digital Exclusives" which we haven't been told anything of!

Thank you, it's a nice idea to make people post more and rate the tracks they download. Can't wait to see those "digital exclusives".

Remember you get 5 points per day jut for visiting, so as long as you are rating and not downloading more than 5 tracks a day, you shouldn't have an issue.
