Settle this debate!

Me and my friend are having a debate and he thinks that G-forces are different or more intense depending on where you sit (the back vs the front.), and I say, it doesn't matter it's all the same. Which one of us is correct?

Take airtime over a hill. (Putting in numbers to help explain it) The front car will get -0.5 G's over the hill. The middle would get 0.0 G's and the back would get -0.5 G's. The front will go over faster than the middle, and then the back will go over faster than the middle because the front and the middle of the train are helping to pull the back of the train over and down. Hopes this helps clear things up.

So the front and back are the same but the middle is different?

take this hill. it's at the end of a lift (see El Toro or Balder) flat at the top then drops

The front would get NOWHERE near the amount of negative G's that the back does because the front crawls over it compared to the back.

In some cases yes, but some no. El Toro is a great example, The front gets like -1.0, The middle gets like -0.6, and the back gets like -1.2. Clearly these aren't the correct numbers but you get the point.

What are the max g-forces on The Voyage depending on seats?

4.0 g's, but as previously mentioned, this is so subjective. Rumour has it that the Voyage pulls 2.0g's lateral in areas.

Yea guess Archie is right, every seat will be different depending on where you are in the train.

I'm terrified of blacking out on a coaster so i always sit in the front.

The G-forces you experience are a function of track curvature and speed. That will tell you why different parts of the the train will experience different Gs on a given section of track unless it is straight.

Pretty much the middle of the train will have the stronger positives at the bottom of the drop as that will be the big of the train will be moving through the apex of the curve at the fastest rate, and the front and the back will have the stronger negatives during airtime hills for pretty much the same reason.

Heard the best seat on, MF was the middle because the forces at the bottom of the drops are the fastest, and the hills are perfect 0g.
