Las Vegas' second and newest water park opened this past weekend, named Cowabunga Bay. The park has a bit of a little-engine-that-could story, seeing delays at first of an entire year, then several more which moved back a planned Memorial Day opening to July 4th. While that was no doubt stressful for the park's operators, it must be extremely rewarding to now see guests enjoying their creation.
Cowabunga Bay Las Vegas features a selection of slides and attractions that range from mild to wild. Their multilane mat racer actually features an uphill section at the end, which is unique for that style of slide. There's several colorful slides built onto one tower, a speedy trap-door launch slide, giant wave pool, lazy river and more. Two of the slides that were not finished in time for the grand opening are expected to open in the near future.
The local news reports that an estimated 2,000 people showed up for the grand opening on July 4th, I'm sure many of them are season pass holders. For photos from opening day check out this story from the Las Vegas Sun. Also make sure to keep up with the park on Facebook, where they have plenty of additional photos and videos.
