Project Helix at Liserberg

Helix is Lisebergs largest investment ever, in a single attraction. The new roller coaster is longer and faster than any other coaster in the park. The aim is to make construct one of the best roller coasters in the world.

Image

The track is almost 1,4 km (4500 feet) long and the ride lasts for almost two minutes. Along the track are two launches where the coaster accelerates using Linear Synchronous Motors (LSM). It will be the first multi-launch coaster in Europe. The ride will include seven inversions, four airtime hills and plenty of drops, turns and twists.

With speeds up to 100 km/h (62 mph) this new coaster will be the fastest one in the park and the most technologically advanced one. It's manufactured by the German company Mack Rides Gmb.

The new coaster will premiere in spring 2014.

Has anyone else heard the wonderful news that the Swedish theme park "Liseberg" (in G?????????teborg) is getting a shiny new coaster next year? Called "Project Helix" as of now. Here is a link if you want all the information about the coaster http://projekthelix.se/en/#.USaVcf7Evm4 And here is a picture of the layout http://projekthelix.se/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/helix-overview-new2013.jpg

As a side note, we Swedes are also getting the worlds highest starflyer called "Eclipse" at Gr?????????na Lund in Stockholm this year.

Link for more info on Eclipse http://www.gronalund.com/en/Attraktioner/Alla-attraktioner/Eclipse/

I am super excited and am probably going to Liseberg next year for the first time in many years, hopefully it will live up to my expectations.

I got surprised by these photos showing this dark green monster stands around the urban area! The first photo of a corkscrew is going to drive me crazy in a good way, yes as one coaster fan who likes loops and twists.

This park has always been on my bucket list. Thankfully they didn't make it hideous colors like the crap they've been building in Sochi Park.

This looks like it's going to be one of the best roller coasters of the decade!

This ride looks incredible... The pacing, the layout, the setting. Definitely #1 potential right there!

I really need to get to this park. Whoever makes their ride selections is fantastic. Very jealous of the Euro-members right now.

I seriously like how this ride starts! What you'll see first while on the ride is Corkscrew! :D

The only thing that irks me about it is that the tophat feels like another corkscrew. I had to go look at offride photos to figure out where it is in the POV

Looks even better now that it's started to bed in and there are leaves on the trees. This ride will only get better as the foliage around it grows.

I didn't really think much of Mack until I rode Manta at Seaworld San Diego. Thier trains are amazing and make a sort of average famly ride into something pretty exciting. I can't imagine what they would do for such awesomeness such as this! And if they have lights out night time pitch black ERT?!?!?! *spaces out and drools in bliss just thinking about it

I know it has three trains but does anyone know if they can run all 3 together?
