You know, When I saw this post I was going to write one of my famously damaging big long rants about all of the things that are wrong with Six Flags. Even go in depth and detail about how they should be fixed, and the business cases for doing so. After some soul searching, I came to realize that Six Flags is the principle cause for the trend in the race to the bottom in the industry. They started the coaster wars back in the 90s-00s that drove them into bankruptcy. Now instead of trying to be the best, they are focusing on how to be the most profitable and how to please the share holders. No publicly traded Theme Park Company has ever had crazy high stock prices or depended upon share holders to keep their business afloat. It's simply the seasonal nature of the business. Your operate for 7 months, have no income and a bunch of expenses, then repeat it all over again next year.
Outside of Labor Costs, Maintenance is the second highest recurring cost center for a park. Tell me, how do you think they are saving money? Post bankruptcy Six Flags has essentially nosed dived into the ground from just about all perspectives. They have failed in all this time to address the things that are principally affecting their businesses, and by the time they do it will be to late. I feel it's beyond saving at this point. Ive sold all of my Six Flags stock this year. If you want to fix Six Flags, then stop supporting them and the way they currently operate. Stop visiting their parks, stop buying season passes, stop buying food and merchandise. That's what everyone else who feels the same way you do is doing.
Didn't notice this til now, I agree with pretty much everything you said. But I will keep supporting them. I don't want to lose some of their amazing coasters, it is not worth the loss of coasters for a better run company. And I don't support them much, a $61 season pass that works for the rest of this year and next year with free parking does not help pay the bills very much if at all, so I don't personally think I am contributing to them too much.
