I'd be fine with it.

SFNE IMO is one of the lesser corrupt parks as nothing really gimmicky was added except the Sky Screamer, but one could argue that they did not advertise it as much and it is a pretty good addition to the park as it adds something over 400 ft. The only thing wrong would be the SROS incident that led to the renaming of Bizarro. But then again Bizarro is a piece of Intamin heaven and I love old school Intamins with the box supports. All they have to do to get better is remove the SLC and add something with a launch. Then the park will feel more complete to me. They also have a great waterpark there and that is where I rode my first water coaster.

It really depends on which park is your home Six Flags. Someone with Six Flags St. Louis as their home park might be ok with it since St. Louis doesn't have fantastic coasters, whereas someone who has their home park as Great Adventure or Magic Mountain will say No Way! Because of the amazing coasters each park has.

TTD, Toro's lift slowdown has nothing to do with the lift cable. The change was made for a different reason.

I've ridden Nitro what 100-150 times, never noticed a lift slowdown at the top on it (or any other B&M I've ridden). I won't say it doesn't happen, but if it does it's so minor and insignificant that I've never heard anyone mention it before and I've never noticed myself. I'll look for it next time I'm there. I should be at least once more this season.

^Yes I've never noticed anything on Nitro as well. I will also be going to SFGA once more this season, so I'll look for it too

The loss of Six Flags would not necessarily mean the loss of rides. If forced to liquidate under Chapter 7, the parks would likely go to auction and be sold separately in whole as is where is. There are several companies that would be interested in acquiring those parks. Especially the ones serving the larger markets. I can only leave you with Astroworld as an prime example of why they aren't really at risk.

It cost a lot of money to demolish Astroworld, to gut and haul away all the structures and rides they didn't want to salvage. They had to terraform and level the ground, remove all the streets, foundations, and underground infrastructure down to three feet. All that work to try and make $~70M off the sale of the land. The only problem, the park had $65M worth of improvements and fixtures on it. Once everything was stripped off, the lot was worth next to nothing. Tack on the previously mentioned demolition cost and you just lost money.

Big problem with that is that alot of SF coasters are custom made for their parks landscape.
Yeah there are many you can sell and done. but the more popular coasters would be a nightmare. Especially for a park like SFMM.

Honestly SFMM, SFOG, and SF St. Louis are the only ones with any real topography lol.

Alright, you got me, makes sense, I still don't want it to happen, because I like the cheap season pass prices, but I see where you are coming from.

I hope that doesn't happen. None of the major US chains are in a position to acquire more parks at this point. Cedar Fair wasn't in a position to swallow Paramount like they did and a lot of parks they already owned are still starving for it. Worlds of Fun, Vallyfair!, and Michigan's Adventure totally got stepchild treatment for the new parks for several years. I can't see them buying up more parks except for bulk used rides like Geauga Lake, and if they do, it'll probably just slow down the new ride roll out for every park even more. Busch apparently seems to be nosediving too at the moment at BGE plus I think they wouldn't want to take anything over anyway. Maybe Merlin could snag one or two? I can't think of anyone else

I wouldn't call it nosediving. Busch didn't put any major coaster into BGE before Griffon for a very long time.

as a former Six Flags employee, I think there's so much wrong with your list.....The whole people dying statement is ridiculous, that's not SFOT's fault, that's the design of the trains. Six Flags was told how to operate that ride by both RMC and Gerstluar. (Mind my spelling) Six Flags then takes that information and has training sessions set up for all the ride hosts on that ride. If they are following the standard procedure and something like that happens, who's really to blame? The person who claimed they didn't feel safe but rode it anyway? Or the train manufacturer?

Let's face it, both chains have something disastrous in their history whether you're a fan of Cedar Fair or Six Flags. I visited Cedar Point once in 2012 and I really wasn't wowed by their operations. They can open restraints while trains are moving and there was an incident where we were waiting at the gate for 2-3 minutes while the girls gossiped over a hot guy coworker. Millennium Forceless was a joke and so were the wooden coasters. The only rides I really loved were Skyhawk, Power Tower, Dragster, and Maverick.....too bad I went a year too early for GateKeeper.

And on a side note, "The Stupids" will continue to make visiting theme parks very interesting for years to come....especially since the flood of stupids seems to get larger every year.

If it is the train's fault, then why are there still some rides out there without seatbelts, such as Nitro?
I think the employees should have made a judgement that she just wasn't going to fit, and be done with it. I know their intentions are not to make the guest unhappy, but sometimes for safety, that's what you have to do.

It wouldn't surprise me if the terrible operations at SFMM are more of an understaffing issue than anything else.

As a person who lives right down the road from SFOT, it was a split blame. She should have known that she was too big for the ride by seeing of how tight the operators were making the lap bars. The operator should have seen that she was too big for the ride to operate safely. If you work at a ride for any amount of time, you learn the limitations of the ride. Now I don't know the exact specifications of the incident, as nobody does except the people that were there watching as everything was happening that night. I was actually at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington (right across the street, literally) that night watching baseball and then fireworks. Sometimes it is good just to drop things and leave them as they are, this would be one of them. This keeps coming up on the news here in D/FW as well, and honestly, its getting kind of annoying.
