I haven't made anything in a while so I thought I'd get back into designing stuff. This is my first NL2 track and I'm trying to make it interesting while teaching myself the editor along the way. This is a wooden coaster not really modeled after any manufacturer in particular, but instead attempting to combine the old with the new in what I hope will be an interesting way.

Image
Transitions are the most important part of any coaster, and this has them. the train is going around 40 mph here, so they are fast paced and provide a nice pop of airtime.

Image
The current view from the first drop. The ride actually runs uphill until the far end, and downhill on the way back, making it possible for the ride to not lose much speed over the course of the track.

Image
Lateral G heaven before entering a short break before the more intense part of the ride.

Image
Did I mention there's a triple up? There's a triple up. Note that the 2 s-hills wrapping around it are going to be reworked or reshaped because right now they cause tunneling issues and are kind of ugly.

Image
The first drop. Top speed is around 50 MPH.

Image
Fun.

Image
Side view of the first drop.

Image
The current end of the ride. Will be reworked. I will probably finish with an upward helix into the brakes.

That's about it for now. I'll keep you updated.

Edit: Because I haven't been on in a while, I accidentally put this in the wrong forum area. I can move it to the hard hat area if the admins want. My fault, sorry.

Such a relief not to see any inversions. Looks like a very enjoyable ride.

You haven't seen the quintuple barrel roll to immelmann I'm ending with yet.

Looks very good so far. I hope the little hills aren't too violent. Did you make sure that there is enough room for catwalks?

Don't worry CK, the transitions are exciting but not deadly.

UPDATE:

Image
Heaven now lasts longer

Image
The train still has enough speed to pull ridiculous ejector air over this hill, and while there are some clearance issues with what will be the breaks above, this will be resolved, because I love the idea of having hills tangled up with the brakes and the pre-lift.

Image
Did I mention this was a 40 MPH section?

Image
A nice view from the station.

Looking good! Did you ever figure out the transfer track and storage?

You'll need to have supporting under the track too, so if you already have clearance issues with just track on track, then it's too tight. Consider changing the layout?

Looks a seriously fun ride! I love the twist on the classic out and back - Looks like that mini-break you speak of will be worthwhile to split the ride up too!

I already have a fix in the works, clearance will not be an issue when the ride is done. Just working on finishing the layout right now.

I added a vertex and this happened:

I think the ride is more intense now.

That's happened to me before too, except it was because I also had another vertex selected and it threw the ride off. I was searching for that vertex in the red lines for a while

Been making progress.

The two S-Hills have been removed and reworked:

Image
The first is now one of the best airtime moments of the whole ride

Image
The second one now weaves its way between the triple up and the hills below it

Image
Heaven now lasts even longer, thanks to the space freed up from the 2nd hill

Image
Added this turnaround by the station, the shaping is still being tweaked

Image
Just when you think the ride is slowing down, you are greeted with this

Your big turnaround should not be level at all. It should slope downwards.

There. I know the exit is ugly, will fix.

EDIT:

Layout is now complete, although the end it a bit choppy in terms of shaping right now, I'll be running with this and refining from there.

Image
Top view gives a good idea of the layout

Image
The station paths would be leading from the side facing this picture. Trains have been reduced to 5 cars per train to compensate for force differences, although I will probably increase that number later once the shaping is done and forces are less erratic.

Image
The area I showed earlier is now directly under the brakes, there is plenty of headroom though.

Image
I know the turnaround behind the train is ugly, it will be reshaped.

Image
What the far end of the track looks like

Image
Fun will be had

Image
Dammit Adobe update

Image
Pretend that last turn isn't ugly and it looks really good

Image
Does anyone know if it's possible to have the storage track on the transfer table itself? Boulder Dash does that and it's really compact.

You could cheat and have the vertical transfer track thing Goliath has for maximum compactness.

although not entirely realistic you could put a turn to put the storage track on the transfer table, but theres no way to do it like you want. I do think I remember the, saying its a feature for a future update though
What are these for?
