Welcome to the 2014 edition of the CoasterDraft. This is a game where players will try to gather the best collections of roller coasters around the world into a single park. This game is open for everyone, so if you??????d like to join, read on.
Overview
A maximum of 24 players will take turns picking roller coasters from around the world. After 10 rounds, the players reveal the name of their park and will vote on who they think has the best collection of roller coasters.
Please note that this game generally takes two months to complete. In order to compete, you must be able to go online once every 24 hours for the entire duration of the game. The number of players that can compete is limited, so please only sign up if you can commit to the entire game.
Initial picking order
In order to determine who gets the first pick, players must choose a ??????lucky number?????? (between 0 and 100) when signing up. Once the sign-up deadline has closed, a random number will be generated and the picking order is determine by the distance between the player??????s lucky number and the randomly generated number. In case of equal distance, the player who signed up earlier is given the advantage. If there are more than 24 sign-ups, some players will be placed on a back-up list.
Picking coasters
Each rounds starts with me posting in the topic that the round has begun. Usually this is combined with an overview of all previously picked coasters.
Once the round has started, the first group of 4 players has 24 hours to pick their coasters. You pick a coaster by posting the name of that coaster. Please include the park name and/or RCDB.com link to avoid confusion. Once you pick a coaster, it becomes unavailable for other players. In order to keep things fair: YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO EDIT YOUR POSTS. If you make a spelling error, if you want to
include a picture or if you accidentally picked the wrong coaster: MAKE A NEW POST. If the post in which you pick a coaster is edited, it will be invalid!
You are only allowed to pick coasters that are currently operating. As a reference, RCDB.com will be used, unless you or other players can prove otherwise. Coasters that have soft-opened, as well as coasters that are down for seasonal maintenance or minor technical difficulties are allowed to be picked. Coasters that suffer long-term breakdowns cannot be picked.
Dueling and racing coaster can be picked. They come as a package and cannot be picked separately. If you have picked two dueling and/or racing coasters, you lose 1 coaster slot.
Once every person in a group has picked a coaster or if the 24 hours are up, the next group??????s 24 hours start. This is repeated until the end of the round. Then the order of the players is reversed and I will start the next round.

Missing turns
If you fail to make a valid pick, your turn will be counted as ??????missed??????. This can happen in several ways.:
- You do not pick a coaster within 24 hours.
- You picked a coaster that was already taken.
- You picked a coaster that is not operating.
- The post in which you picked a coaster was edited.
If you see you have made a mistake, you may correct it, but you have to do this before the 24 hours are up. However, if everybody else in your group has picked a coaster and then somebody from the next group picks a coaster, your turn has ended and you cannot correct your mistake. Remember that correcting an invalid pick is only allowed by making a new post, as EDITING A POST IS NOT ALLOWED.
It is in everybody??????s favor to keep the CoasterDraft moving quickly. Missed turns only slow the draft down and therefore you will be disqualified if:
- You miss your first turn
- You miss two turns in a row
- You miss three turns in total
Coasters picked by a disqualified player either go to a player from the back-up list or will remain unavailable for other players. If you take over from a disqualified player, you may pick more coasters on your first turn to fill in the missed turns of your predecessor.
Skipping turns
If you think that you will not be able to pick a coaster during an upcoming round, you can choose to skip that round. You must post this in the topic before the 24 hour deadline of your turn ends. During the next turn, you are allowed to pick one additional coaster. You are allowed to skip two rounds in total.
End of the draft
Once the final round is over, you must post a name for your park/collection of coasters. Once all park names are posted, the player will vote on what they think are the best parks. Failure to provide a park name or vote on the other parks will result in disqualification.
Simultaneous picking
4 players will pick at the same time. Instead of having a first-come-first-serve system, the coasterdraft will use a priority and back-up system. Players will be given a priority from 1 to 4. The player with priority 1 will always receive the coaster they pick. Other players will either have to wait until players with a higher priority have made their picks or provide back-up coasters. This is in case a higher priority player picks a coaster a lower priority player also wants.
For example. If you have priority 3 and the person with priority 1 has already picked his coaster, then you need to provide your pick with an additional back-up. This is in case the player with priority 2 also wants your coaster.
This system is a bit complex, especially if you see/read it for the first time. Please let me know if anything is unclear.
Summarizing:
You can sign up now. Sign up deadline is October 24, 11:59 PM., expect the draft to begin soon after. Only submissions with a lucky number between 0 and 100 will be accepted.
Only sign up if you can check into the site every 24 hours for the entire duration of the draft.
Know the rules, or ask questions about things that are unclear. AND NEVER EDIT YOUR POSTS!
