I'm working on my first 4D coaster and need a tip or two on when to flip the train forward/backwards, how to adjust the flip on banking, etc.

Personally, over hills or straights is good. barrel rolls are also a good spot. Think of how your body might react to the ride if it were real. Just watch the little "peg" indicator to see which way your seats are flipping.
