Hey guys,

although this is still about three years in the future, I wanted to ask you if some of you have some tipps/advices for the following:

Three friends of mine and myself want do a vacation trip to the US east coaster to visit some of the theme parks after our graduation. (Possibly the last vacation trip together because of studies and so on.)

We have in mind to stay around 3 or 4 weeks and start from Cedar Point to Hershey, SFGA, Kings Dominion and Bush Gardens, and maybe two days in NYC between the parks.

I would like to ask you if you have some tipps about the general stuff like on which coaster the queue is how long on which time of the day, a possible alternative route and so on. (The trip would be around mid of May to mid of june.)

Do you think it will pay out to stay a whole week at CP (remembering we??????ve never been there, it will be THE childhood dream and that it will be a long time till we get there again)?
Is it a "good" route? (Starting in CP and go south or would you start from and finish the trip with CP? (I??????m concerned that MF & co. won??????t be that impressive after we rode so many coasters before because the Gs aren??????t felt anymore and so on.))

Do you have some other tipps for us?

I would really appriciate some ideas and tipps from you. ;-)

Hmmm... Some pretty basic tips around here that are usuable in pretty much any themepark.
My experience and ways of going through the themeparks is like going from popular low capacity rides to the higher capacity rides. Worked out as a pretty good tactic to beat some slow, long lines. After that I would say, start at the back of the park. GP usually starts in the front of the park and works their way round. So starting at a different point makes sure you're ahead of the biggest crowd. :)

As a Cedar Point finatic that goes 3 times a year, I can tell you that MF will feel just as amazing any time of the day.
1 week is long for CP, but since you won't be going back for a long time, it's definitely worth it. I would also consider getting Fast Lane Plus at least 1 day for quick lines. Also, as Dirk said, start in the back, and work your way to the front of the park. Raptor and GateKeeper are usually dead at 7:30, and have a 5 minute wait. The only thing I would say is head to MF first if you are antsy, the line is usually a half hour right when the park opens because of Early Entry for hotel guests an hour before, so the line will usually only get longer from there.

thanks for the tipps guys. :)

BTW. How is it about the summer break in the US? Would the trip (mid-May to mid-June) be right in the break and if so are there recognizable effects on the queues?
Does the whole US have it at the same time or is the break start different from state to state? (That??????s why I was asking if it would make sense to start in the south and go north.)

^ In the US, schools usually go out at the end of May- to Mid June, then they go back at Mid August to Early September.

At Cedar Point, those first few weeks in may midweek are the best, the park can be pretty dead.

It just depends on how lucky you get. There have been times when what normally is the quietest day turns out to be the busiest.

Hmm. Allright. Do you know of any cheap ways of accomodation near the parks (camping, etc.) besides the park-owned hotels?

I guess you could do a motel and stay the night there. There are plenty of camp grounds along the east coast, at least I think there is

At CP, the hotels in and around Sandusky are much cheaper than the on site ones. But I would recommend Breakers Express. It is a CP owned hotel, and is a bit more expensive than other hotels in the area, but the best benefit is cheap tickets to CP and you get the 1 hour early entry. The 1 hour early entry doesn't seem like much, but at CP, it is the only chance you can get on MF for most of the day with a 5-10 minute wait.

Very true. When i made the trip up from Texas, we stayed at Hotel Breakers. I was able to ride MF one day because of the 1 hr early entry. The other time was I waited 2-3 hours to ride it our last night at the park. And it was well worth the wait. The saying of day and night rides are completely different is very true to the point.
