So earlier today, I decided to enjoy a little bit of the warmer weather we've been experiencing, and head out on a short hike on this new trail I discovered. I heard from other trail users that this trail actually runs right behind this awesome standalone roller coaster, Chimera, and I had to check it out. I've ridden it many times, but never gotten to see it from outside the park!

But after some hiking, as I rounded the bend where the coaster comes into view - I was greeted to a giant yellow crane sticking up out of the trees! What could this mean?

Upon a closer look (the fence reaches all the way around, I checked...), it seems like they're removing track from just before the brake run. Maybe they're doing some maintenance on that section? I've never seen them do this extensive of a fix before.

I guess there's two possibilities here, we're either just seeing some maintenance, or there's a possibility of a big change coming! Either way, I'll definitely be returning here soon to keep you guys updated!

EDIT - I was able to find this awesome picture of Chimera at the trail's visitor center! I wish I had seen this scene before today, this view looks incredible!

Haha, thanks guys! I figured I'd try to make this one realistic since LiveWire really wasn't :D

Wasn't able to head back today due to the weather (modeled after our current weather, actually ), but thankfully the park's FB provided us with some up close pics of the construction! Check them out, looks like we've got more than a simple renovation on our hands:

Looks like they're removing the launch fins from the launch track, I hope they don't remove the launch!

The other pieces have been shipped out, I wonder why these two have stayed?

Kind of hard to hide a paint test on a black & green coaster, but if this is going to be the color scheme I definitely approve!

Looks like there's a little viewing area being set up, if this and everything else don't scream "big change!" I don't know what would!

Don't mean to double post, but thought I'd mention that the NL1 version of Chimera is now available in the scrapyard! Thought I'd post it here to give you guys the chance to see what the old ride was like (had a heavy Stormrunner inspiration), and maybe see what's in store ahead 8-)

And the old video for it, as well:

Just as a pro tip if you have a black ride try and make it really dark grey instead of actually straight black. It helps the textures "come out".

^^^I also agree. This always works for me. Same goes for white. I usually use a really light gray and it comes out nicer.
It's been a long time

I think you gave me that same tip for LiveWire - completely forgot about it this time around

---------

Went out to the park today to try and get some winter (de?)construction pics from that trail! Looks like some more work has been done removing track around the brake run and further up the track, but other than that it seems like not much else has happened. I wonder if just the 2nd half of the ride is being renovated?

Snow piled high and a frozen lake make for the perfect winter scene!
poster-2015-02-17-19-34-23.png

The ice seemed thick enough, so I walked out on it to see what kind of view I could get from the lake. It was pretty slippery, but I was able to get a somewhat nicer perspective of the ride!
poster-2015-02-17-19-37-39.png

Didn't have to try hard to look over the fence with all the snow piled up.
poster-2015-02-17-19-38-51.png

All of the track leading up to the final brake run has been removed, rather recently by the position of the crane. They need to get some kind of webcam set up! :)
poster-2015-02-17-19-40-25.png

Hard to tell from this spot, but it looks like both s-curves have been removed, as well at the track right after the zero g roll.

Hope we get some more construction site photos from the park soon, can't see too much from this little trail-side viewing area they set up!

I love you're making a story. It reminds me of a lot of RCT3 projects, and that's a great thing. The coaster is looking good too.

Taking track out because it's too intense (like Intimidator?)

Nope, I think the park has something much bigger in store!

Thank you! I figured I'd try out a storyline, since a lot of people enjoy them :)
