Anti-Rollback Device - The collective name for the ratchet and chain dog system on lift hills. Stops trains from rolling back down the lift hill.

Whenever you go on a coaster, while going up the lift look closely, there are little thing that look kinda like stairs in the middle of the track.Underneath the train there is a little piece of steel that can go up & down. That drags on the track on the lift hill,so if a train were to break loose off the chain it would catch it. I'll find a pic.

OK, click pics & go to the one pic that is front row on the lift. Beside the chain there is are little things. The piece under the train drags on the & that makes the click, click, click noise while going up the lift. Notice there more pointed up towards the top if the lift & the piece under the train is pointed more towards the bottom of the lift.

I hope I put that clear enough.Image

you need to host the pic somewhere Kurtis [;)]

chains are also used on some wooden coasters as double protection and also give make sure that if the train does hit the anti rollback the train can continue on without any manual help
