Hey everyone!

Sorry for the long introduction, I'm the sort of person who makes introductions this long.

I am nerdygeeknl2, a high school student who loves physics. Stuff like laws of motion, momentum, conversion of energy, waves... But what first brought me to physics was my love for rollercoasters.

My first rollercoaster was a Vekoma Boomerang - yes, right off the bat, no kiddie coaster before that - when I was 10. At the time I did not know that there was much, much bigger.

Around the same time, I started playing RollerCoaster Tycoon 3. At the time, I loved it so much. There were nearly endless possibilities to mix and match pieces, and combined with scenery possibilities I thought it was the best a rollercoaster simulator could get.

Of course, this simulator was a video game... and over time, its limitations showed. The limited ways of banking annoyed an older me, who wanted to reduce G forces while still making something big and fast. Scenery was limited to the grid system. I wanted to make any shape I wanted. However, at the time I still thought nothing could get better.

I got introduced into NoLimits when I was searching for something that had no limits. The name alone of the simulator got my attention - it was exactly what I needed! At least in name - the demo was hard to use and I had a hard time making a smooth curve, let along a functional coaster.

For years I continued on with RCT3. When I got a new favorite video game (Forza, Halo, etc.), I'd often go back to RCT3 after months or so. However, though I have not mastered the best RCT3 could do with custom scenery and all, I kept searching. Theme Park Studio isn't done yet, other simulators were lacking... Until I found NoLimits 2.

I was amazed by the improvement in graphics. I then got a demo. At first I just used it to watch coasters in high-poly, but then I reminisced making impossible coasters with ridiculous curves in the NL1 demo. I then got to the editor, and I was like WOOOAAAAHH. Making curves is far easier now! I then learned the roll point, making a lift hill, elements, prefab supports, custom support editing - all in succession, in one session. I was hooked. It was thrilling.

After two months, I consider myself a NoLimits 2 convert. I now have it and love it, and I kept on playing it.

My favorite video game isn't a video game... but a realistic simulator.

I am a member of RCTgo since the past, but though they have a NoLimits section, I wanted to join somewhere that had a more active NoLimits community. And so... Here I am!

I hope to share some creations and ask for advice soon. Nice site.

Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks, mod! :D Wonderful website we have over here. I'm finishing a little something I prepared and will upload when ready. Maybe tomorrow or the day after tomorrow? Haha.

Welcome to the site! I swear your story is almost exactly like how I came to Nolimits 2 (hence the username ). Hope you enjoy it here!

Thanks everyone for the replies! I am very happy I got replies within an hour. Unexpected!

RCT3Rox - woah. I guess I wasn't the only one haha. :D
EDIT - saw LIVE WIRE. Impressed! I was also starting work on a Mack launched coaster just before I came here, though I was really confused with what inversions, elements and stuff should I put so it's not high in my release priority list. I see our stories have more than just that similarity. :D

Mrcrolly - Hahaha okay M C R C olly. And that R C could also stand for roller coaster! :D

I'm working on two projects - an Intamin accelerator coaster with lap bars (though with NoLimits 2 not having direct support for hydraulic systems it's more of an Intamin LSM launch coaster) and a B&M floorless coaster, both terrain coasters with the former using the terrain and trees for a sense of speed and the latter using them for a sense of height (everything seems higher when the lift hill is above a mountaintop!).

Oh, and in case anyone who is also at RCTgo is wondering, yes I am nerdygeekrct there. :D

EDIT - and to explain the grin ( :D ) overload, I'm just very happy to be here!

Thanks, Blase Rhine and Oscar! I'm planning to finish the queue lines in the two coasters I'd like to share here so that I can bring some stuff to the table early on And then one Mack in the Hard Hat area XD

cool5, I'll make sure I'll do when I have free time. I'm hard at work on my own projects :)

Thank you, mod TTD03! I read somewhere you had over 200 rides on Top Thrill Dragster or something, wow that's impressive. I have not tried it though (never been to Cedar Point).

lol240 - thanks! I just feel the need to thank everyone for minding my entrance. It's not something you see on a forum everyday XD

I'm going to do what I used to do at RCTgo last 2012 and greet everyone who posts a topic in this section as a bit of giving to the community. :D

Glad you liked LiveWire, it's my best project to date! That being said, it is only my third project in NL2 . Blase currently has the file to design some really awesome theming, so stay tuned if you liked it! Can't wait to see your creations, especially that Mack! :)

Pressure hahaha. But really, thanks! :) I hope to get that Mack done soon, but I've been brainstorming for a month already on the perfect inversion mix and flow and I'm more confused now than when I started the project. XD

Mack can be weird with the flow of inversions, I actually decided on just designing the ride as I went without any real pre-planning, and it worked out great! Ended up being over a mile long, but everyone seems to love the design :D

I find that Macks have this certain fluid flow to them where the a transition to an element feels like an extension of the last one. I find it hard to try and replicate that "oh I did not see that coming but it makes sense" feel, but your coaster looks worthy!

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm trying to work on making it reaaaally good. Kind of like the design that defines me or something. Haha I hope to see LiveWire soon in its themed glory!

Yea, you probably read it on my changing signature!
252 rides and 1 rollback, bringing the total to 252.5 :P

Oh, no wonder I could not recall where I read it, i could have sworn it was your sig but it changed  .
420 ft. high and 120 mph with lapbars....

I heard the thrill and adrenaline buildup make the 30 second ride even more fulfilling and satisfying than a 2 minute mine train though.
