I would think some sort of lighting package is by far the most likely 'effect.' Maybe an added tunnel or something to that...effect. And shouldn't testing should begin soon if it hasn't already?
What I'm curious about is if this falls under a ride modification for safety requirements or as a new attraction. Last year when Mantis had the chain replaced last minute due to "issues" that later included the absolutely wrecked lift motor, we had to run each train 100 times without any issues (running the train 100 times involved lifted the seats when the train arrived and then rebuckling the seatbelts, pushing down the harnesses, and slamming the seats all the way down). It has had lots of new equipment added, but the ride isn't "new" itself.
I'd imagine they want the crew to not be sluggish(three train operation dispatches a train from the station while the other train ahead of it is in the peak of the dive loop, a feat physically impossible in the standing configuration).
New lights would be great, but a tunnel would be better!. If its anything like Fury 325, then awesome. Thanks for the spider stories I was really curious.
GAdv is bad? I've been going for years and years, occasionally at night, never had the slightest problem with bugs. SFNE had some serious spiders here and there but they didn't really bother anyone, mayfly looking things everywhere for 20 mins one time I was there, but other than that bugs haven't been a problem anywhere. They were ok when I was at Cedar Point a few days in 2003, but I guess it was just not the right time of year for them to be a problem. I was there the beginning of August...5-7 I think? lol
lol I specifically remember being bitten by some mosquitos by the Flyers at King's Dominion what 3 years ago, but don't remember even 1 bite at Great Adventure. I don't remember dragonflies either...though I did get stung by a rogue wasp once while on Toro. I call it bad luck.
Oh Lake Compounce is pretty bad with wasps, to the point where they need to have traps all around. Wasn't too disruptive if you weren't near a trashcan or trap though.
But yeah that video of CP is really bad. I don't know if SFNE was at that level for those 20 minutes in the evening, but it was enough that ladies were screaming about bugs in their hair and they stopped Superman until the raid ended lol.
