It's already starting, the rumors for the 2016 ride. It's about time Great Adventure actually gets an actual new coaster, so I think this will finally be our year. Surveyors have been seen in the park, while this could be for the solar panels being installed soon, it could also be for the new rumored coaster! I have heard that it could possibly be a Launched B&M Wingrider, an RMC coaster, a B&M/Intamin Giga Coaster, which I would love the most, or a new standard wooden coaster.

So what would you like to see come to Six Flags Great Adventure in 2016? We'll have to wait until August 2015 to know for sure what is coming, but in the mean time, we can speculate here!

This park lacks the traditional hardcore thrill! Now defunct: Rolling Thunder, Viper, Batman & Robin, GASM... and so on. ;) I love smooth coasters but also have much love for good old machines!

Perhaps they will re-open Old Country with a new coaster and a complete refurbishment. At this point, this seems very likely/possible, but nothing is confirmed yet. By the way, good idea creating a new topic for this, the 2015 thread was getting a bit cluttered.

What's intriguing me at the moment is the timing...does anyone know when they started surveying and building Kingda Ka? This all seems REALLY early, meaning whatever is happening could be big, whether it's a ton of retheming and updating or a new coaster.

^ Yea, and the park is on a positive streak of doing things better and more on time, so this is a great sign!

I confirmed in the El Diablo thread that it will go the opposite direction.

Kingda Ka surveying/site work began in the spring as well. Construction began in the summer (and yet they were only able to open it Memorial Day weekend, gives you a sense of how enormous and challenging it was to build) Perhaps you're right. This is pretty early. Even for Fury 325, probably the biggest coaster we've seen in recent years, clearing/surveying began in June or July. This is either going to be really big, or really well themed (for a SF ride anyway ), if it's indeed a coaster.

^ Well Ka had issues, it was going to make the April 23, 2005 opening, but hydraulic issues were a thing :P

The entire Lake Front area has been marked. The area by the water tower has also been marked and surveyed.

That gives us two areas in question.

Here's my (perhaps quite wishful thinking) guess...Remember that 70 mph coaster mentioned in surveys a couple years back? Well I have it placed as seen in the picture, based on the closings and markings. Think Cheetah Hunt style multi launched coaster, but more excitement and intensity to satisfy GAdv's thrillseekers. Likely? Maybe not. Plausible? Given timing, markings, and the survey, I'd say plausible. Biggest issue would be cost, and while SF hasn't spent a ton on any one addition, and they said they just started making a profit, GAdv draws a lot of people and hasn't gotten a major new coaster since Toro. Also gonna say Intamin given that they just bought Zumanjaro and a package deal is plausible seeing as it may be what happened with Kingda Ka and Toro.

Also note the markings apparently extend to the water tower, could be for other things too, or could be for this/a coaster. I just did the drawing quickly to check out the scale, forgot about any markings near the water tower.

^That theory makes a lot of sense, and it does include all of the markings.

Apparently confirmed by management and other park goers that the Grandstand is being removed! Whatever is happening in 2016 for Six Flags Great Adventure, it's going to be huge!

I knew about this for a while, I just didn't think it would happen this soon! Even the employees at the park are buzzing about the news, pointing to rather large attraction coming in 2016 with all the free'd up space.

^Yeah, it seems an unusually large amount of parks are seeing rumors/signs of a new coaster or attraction this year.

Well, after a few talks with some people, and some friends. We have decided that most likely this will be a larger 4D Free Fly like the one at SFFT. The only difference is this would be designed to go upside down 10 times.

Larson Super Corkscrew

It's just a long line of corkscrews and once you reach one end, it reverses. ;)
