Is it possible?

I'm still working on Divebomb, an Intamin vertical lift coaster, and I have the block sections set up so that the lift has a good deal longer block length. This is just so that a train can pull out onto the pre-lift block and sit for a few seconds before continuing on. However, it drives me crazy that the chain continues to move for as long as the previous train is occupying the block. If a train does get stopped before the lift, the chain only stops for a fraction of a second before it starts again to haul the train up.

Is there any way around this? In case the above is a little confusing, I would like the chain to stop moving once a train leaves the lift without sacrificing the extra block length.

TIA.

^ Set the pre-lift block as a complete stop for a few seconds, then get rid of the extended block for the lift?

What TTD03 said is the right way to do it. Extending a lift block won't really benefit a coaster in any way I can see. One perfect use I've found for extending a block is on launched coasters. You don't want the launch track block to clear until the train makes it over the first element, so you extend the launch track's block to end slightly less than half a train length before the highest point of the first element. This means that once the back of the train clears the block, the train will be more than halfway over the top and will definitely not roll back.
