Tell that to all the parks with coasters waaaaay older than that....like Kennywood/Hershey/and the countless others with rides well over 50 years old.

Yeah, Jack Rabbit at Kennywood is celebrating it's 95th year of being open this year. Traditional woodies can last that long if kept up right! :D

Who's the shithead in charge of this decision?

I'm only mad because it's a classic.

Chang's dismantlement/relocation taught me that argument is invalid, that no ride can ever be too popular or impressive to be taken out. So stop being under the false assumption that just because a ride is popular that means it's assured that it will stay for the long-term.

Also, it scares me to think that the Voyage at HW is right next to the waterpark, so I think HW could remove the Voyage if they wanted to. Or maybe the Legend, tho that wouldn't scare me quite as much, but still somewhat.

tl;dr Don't take machines for granted or build your foundation on a ball pit.

So you're saying that CP could just decide to demolish Millennium Force? Obviously there are some coasters that are "above the law" so to speak. There are some coasters with too large of an investment to demolish, and some coasters that draw in FAR too many people to meet this fate. Almost any ride can be demolished (save for the new ones), but there are some coasters that are not leaving any time soon.

I thought the boomerang is only advertise to go over both states Plus technical it's the only woodie at the park to go over the state line since one is a hybrid

Also on other note planning on riding it for the first and last time this season

Is there any reason for a water park expansion? I understand waterparks bring in the crowds but I've always consider one water slide just as good as any other. I'm going to say that RMC or a GG rehab could be possible because of the timing. Its in the middle of the season. The only reason to retire a ride in the middle is if there is work to be done immediately.
What are these for?

Chang closed because of SF going bankrupt and they basically stole the ride. I wouldn't use that as an example. Voyage is here to stay, holiday world loves their coasters and cares about them and roller coasters bring in more crowds than waterparks. So its not going.
All hail your great Arrow Dynamics overlords.

^Improbable, but I would be more than down for that. I am hoping against hope that this won't simply be an older coaster removed for a waterpark expansion...and it would seem to go against the purported goal of turning Carowinds into 'Cedar Point South.'

lololololol,

In terms of Thunderroad closing, I don't find it that big of a deal. I just hope they use the space for something interesting.

I think the ride is cool because it runs across the border between North and South Carolina.

Fury crosses it, but Thunder Road runs along the border. It does not cross it.

Thunder Toad, no... Thunder = Scorch. Therefore, Thunder Toaster. ;)

Back to the story of this coaster, I will be kind of sad.

Carowinds has filed a land development review with Mecklenburg County to develop a water park expansion project on a 6.75 acre site on the North Carolina side of the park in addition to an unknown size site on the South Carolina side.
