Simple and effective cartexture.

Okay a very fortunate series of events just happened, i found the ORIGINAL Aether layout.
Image
Due to similarities between this and my current coaster, [the pretzel knot] i may re theme this and release it separately after Aether is complete as i am i big fan of this layout.

My Eurofighter contest entry for a contest over on NLE (and the only entry in the contest lol) Maelstrom is now on the exchange.

Thanks for the rating, means a lot for someone to make the effort, by the way the banana roll/outward overbank/space curve(really like that name for it :D ) was put there for the contest really as there was bonus points for adding a unique/unusual element, looking at it now i would probably change the second overbank (after the loop) to something like an immelman/dive loop, as it does seem a bit repetative to have two overbank stlye elements in such a short layout so i do see where your coming from.

I might redo this layout at some point without the length restriction that the contest enforced.

Once again thanks for the feedback and i'm glad you liked it!

Wooooo! Awesome. Great POV. I think the pacing is really good; so often I feel that people try to make really fast-paced rides that don't let up and push it so far as to be monotonous. I think you found the right balance between being really zippy while still paying attention to the flow. I can't wait to see this as it continues to come together.

Yay I freakin' love the beep before climbing up a lift hill! That sends me to brace myself! And I'm also into that Intamin roar! Sound effects are as awesome as the ride experience is! :D

Looks good so far. What is the structure around the pretzel supposed to be?

So ive slowed down a lot recently due to work etc, but Aether is still going strong and will be finished someday this year. Heres some of the things ive been planning/working on recently

Firstly ive restarted support work from scratch starting at the brake run and begun supporting the tophat/loop aswell

Image

I am also creating a bridge through the loop which will have a footpath running parrallel to the track on the left hand side (details and fences will be added later obviously)

Image
Image

This path will take you to a veiw point overlooking the valley and out to the dive loop and brake run slope, the track also curves around very close to one side for some great action shots of the coaster

Image
Image

Some themeing elements are also being added (well done to anyone who recognises this pyramid, you probably wont) this provides an mist filled headchopper at the coasters fastest point

Image

That's all i have atm, let me know what you think, feel free to come up with ideas for more scenery and let me know if you spot anything odd or anything that could be improved.
the themeing stuff like the pyramid etc will make more sense when you know the story behind this ride which i also plan to add onboard audio to. This brings me neatly to a question, is there an onboard audio script anywhere that plays the audio so you can hear it outside the train? Like a radius of 15 m or so, the script im using atm only plays in ride view and is silent even when stood next to the train, if someone knows a script, or how to script such a thing i would greatly appreciate it.

Looks good, the loop section looks really busy and compact - certainly makes it feel like a lot is going on in that section (which is good!)

Quick question, would anyone with some modelling and scripting experience be willing to make me a cable lift, i could make a static one with a light pattern or supports but it would be awesome to have a fully working one to add to the realism. You would be doing me (and my coaster) a massive favor and full credit will obviously be given upon release, i would greatly appreciate it, if you're up for it let me know via a whisper/pm/whatever. Thanks in advance:)

Is the catwalk necessary at the top of the loop?

Also Intamin doesn't usually put catwalks on their brake runs for some wierd reason (I guess it has something with the magnetic brakes not being able to bring the train to an absolute complete stop). But it is your coaster, so it's obviously your choice!

Spot on - with a standard friction brake trim (or retractable magnetic fin - see the smiler) the mechanical parts will need to be maintained, inspected and serviced therefore they often use catwalks as a platform whilst they work on them. Check out this picture of Mantis at Cedar Point and compare it to the trim on Shambhala which are static magnetic fins without the catwalks!

Regardless, its your ride and if it's required in conjunction with the theme I look forward to seeing you develop this ride further!
