Ok, first of all I don't hate you. Second, I think this thread is an awesome idea, and I might do one myself soon. I'm going to go out on a limb and give some detailed constructive feedback from the limited time I've had talking to you/reading your posts, don't be insulted by any of it, I'm just trying to be helpful since that seems to be what you wanted.
Ok, Here goes the wall of text.
We are both clearly opinionated people, in fact I would go out on a limb and say I was where you are when I first came on the site several years ago. The thing I've learned is to let your opinions scale with experience. For you this means if you have ridden less Intamins than you have B&Ms, then you should have a much less strong opinion about Intamin than you should B&M. Talking to you in chat you seemed to be of the opinion that Intamin coasters were somehow not forceful, and digging deeper you said you were basing this off Cheetah Hunt. The logical conclusion from this is that Cheetah Hunt is not forceful, not that Intamin rides are not forceful. Hell, just take a trip to Hershey and/or Cedar Point, and I 100% guarantee you that you will walk away with a different opinion. It would be like me Basing my opinion of B&M off of Batman - The Dark Knight @ SFNE, and concluding that B&M makes hands down the best rides to fall asleep on. The strongest unsubstantiated opinion I have at the moment is that RMC coasters are ugly and stupid, but I haven't ridden any of them, and I don't deny that they look like damn fun rides that pack a punch.
This second bit is just a pet peeve of mine that you happen to set off on multiple occasions.
This is not a great layout:
This is not even a real announcement.
This is a great layout:
This is also a great layout:
Oh dear god I need a new pair of pants:
I could go on but I don't really see the point. Great layouts do one or more of these things:
- Maximize efficiency of ride footprint
- Effectively interact with the environment/scenery
- Effectively interact with itself (track crossovers, etc)
- Look like a piece of bad modern art when you squint
Lastly don't argue with CKMWM. Just don't. He's wrong about a ton of things, he's stubborn, and he's often a pain, but he probably has a better sense of humor than you and might commit seppuku if he thought he lost an argument on the internet. Just remember he's a virgin who went to college to learn about rocks.
Love you CKMWM.
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.
