^I totally agree with you and Monte. Imagine how hard people work to do creative things like this and try to achieve build-up. Sad if this was the actual layout. It mainly just takes the fun out of it.
Just imagine if something like Thunderbird or
Lightning Rod was leaked ~1 week before the announcement. It would ruin all of the hype. I was really mad when I saw the Phobia rendering the day before the announcement. Totally killed all of my hype.
I also agree that the layout looks very sub-par. Even at this point I'm still not sold on the dive coaster. At the end of the day all of this is just speculation as none of us have solid proof or evidence that CP is in fact getting a dive coaster.
Also I doubt CP would "accidentally" release an app like that. Tony Clark really knows what we enthusiasts are thinking and teases based on that. Remember last year when we all thought Mean Streak would be RMC'd and he posted a picture of a guy in an RMC shirt standing near Mean Streak and observing it?
Actually, almost all of the info on Lightning Rod was leaked the day before the announcement. I wasn't surprised at all, because all the stats I saw I already knew. The only thing that surprised me is the look of it.
Thunderbird's announcement was 1000x better because we had no clue what it was. I will never forget how me and like 3 other people guessed correctly against everyone saying a launched wingrider was ridiculous. Good times.
Honestly CF needs to do a better job of keeping shut on their projects. We knew everything about Fury 325 a long time before it was announced, we know about Vortex getting the Rougarou treatment, we already know about Carowinds' Waterpark expansion (thanks to Carowinds basically giving out the answer), and we already know basically everything this dive coaster will do, which would confirm that I believe the animation is real. Six Flags on the other hand is doing a pretty good job keeping shut other than Roar, but that's because history is repeating itself and we've seen this many times. For example although a 4D Free Spin is rumored for Gadv, we still have no concept of what's going in the lakeshore.
If everyone else is talking about the same high-res all white track leaked render, I believe it's real. It's exactly the same as the low res version (which, by the way is low quality so it can be used for VR on phones at an actually decent framerate). The first half, though uninspired seems exactly what B&M would do on this coaster. The second half is original but still very feasible and possible. Most fakes have an obvious egregious flaw that makes people toss them out immediately but I don't see anything very unrealistic with this one. If this is a fake then it's the most well made fake I've ever seen. Finally, I'd love if they went with the 8-across cars with the vests over the 10-across cars with the OTSR's because I personally think that B&M's OTSRs are horribly placed surrounding your head, which allows for a lot of headbanging on older coasters. I'd definitely wait a little longer in line if it's for a better and more comfortable ride experience (here's to hoping that their vests don't lock and crush your lungs!)
