The animation looks real, but I thought Total Mayhem was going to be the name of a haunt maze at Great Adventure.

It's definitely real. The sounds and the background animation are all 3DVIP's animating style. The park usually releases the announcement video early to the press so they can prepare their articles in advance, and someone apparently decided to leak it. Guess they aren't going to media day ever again lol

It's clearly real. The design on the train is different and every ride is in the background. As for the coaster, the one at SFFT is crap, I wish this wouldv'e gone to a smaller park, and not one where it is over shadowed by 5 B&Ms, the tallest coaster in the world, and El goddamn Toro...

Yeah nobody has enough time to Keyframe each coaster which would take weeks if not months, when the pro's could just calculate real world physics and have it done in a few days. It just doesn't add up. It's weird though that there are no stats. Perhaps this isn't the final release. All will be revealed in about 7 hours...

I was right. Total Mayhem is official!

Total Mayhem Will Ensue in 2016

Six Flags Great Adventure to Debut the Most Insane Coaster in Its History

JACKSON, N.J. ??? September 3, 2015 ??? Six Flags Great Adventure will dominate as the king of chaos in 2016 when the world???s largest theme park debuts the 14th and most unique scream machine in its history, Total Mayhem.

After being lifted straight up a 12-story, 90-degree hill, this 4-D, free-fly coaster will wreak havoc as riders flip head-over-heels at least six times along the weightless journey. Thrill seekers will experience exhilarating leaps and dives along a horizontal plane, along with unexpected drops as they tumble from one level to the next. The wing seats amp up the pandemonium since riders will experience all of this chaos with no track above or below ??? just the sky, ground and adjacent Great Lake churning around them.

"We are thrilled to unveil one of the newest concepts in roller coaster engineering with Total Mayhem,??? said Park President John Fitzgerald. ???Six Flags Great Adventure???s world-renowned coaster collection will expand into the realm of insanity ??? or spinsanity ??? with this new, vertical coaster that delivers gravity-defying somersaults with utter unpredictability. It is the perfect addition to our dynamic line-up of award-winning roller coasters because this ride delivers next generation, cutting-edge thrills.???

The unique design of Total Mayhem features:
-Massive, imposing, floating and twisting I-box track frame in a unique two-tone design
-One-of-a-kind onboard magnetic technology featuring smooth head-over-heels free-fly flips providing guests the -feeling of weightlessness as they soar outside the confines of a traditional track
-4-D wing vehicles that seat up to 8 per vehicle with a total of 5 vehicles
-Face-off seats that allow riders to face each other as they tumble head over heels
-A 120-foot-tall, 90-degree hill that is ascended by an elevator-style, chain link lift
-Two beyond 90-degree ???raven??? drops giving the sensation of free-falling

Total Mayhem is expected to ensue spring 2016, and joins the ranks of legendary roller coasters like El Toro, Kingda Ka, Nitro and 2015???s El Diablo. For more information about upcoming 2016 Six Flags rides and attractions, including a video highlighting the new rides and attractions, visit http://www.sixflags.com/2016news.

Six Flags Great Adventure is also announcing the start of 2016 Season Pass sales with its special Flash Sale through Labor Day weekend featuring the best deal of the year ??? savings up to 65% off on 2016 Passes! September 3 through 7, guests will receive a free upgrade to a Gold Season Pass with every Pass purchased. Gold Season Passes include admission to both Six Flags Great Adventure and Hurricane Harbor, and any other Six Flags theme park, as well as free parking and special admission offers for friends. 2016 Season Passes provide unlimited visits any operating day for the rest of 2015, including park admission to Fright Fest?? and Holiday in the Park??, and all of 2016.

Pass holders may also purchase a Gold Season Dining Pass, which includes a lunch, dinner, and snack during every park visit, plus they will receive a 2016 All Season Sport Bottle for unlimited drink refills. Gold Season Dining Passes may be used at any Six Flags theme park.

Bad choice for SFGAdv. Well at least the lines for El Toro will be shorter!

All I keep thinking is, "we waited 7 years for this?!" And seven years is generous, as I'm counting from the addition of the last truly new coaster, Dark Knight. Eff Green Lantern.

Anyone else notice the incorrectly-placed Boomerang in the photo with the logo?

This looks great! I'm loving the idea of two different colors for rails for these 2016 coasters! An excellent addition for this park!

I do agree it looks great, but GADV is a big park. They shouldn't have gone with the smaller model of the freefly and how many trains can these things run? 3 or 4? That is pretty low capacity for a park like this which never has a slow day and when you mix big crowds + low capacity ride + flash pass line + horrible six flags operations you are going to be left with a line that is just too long for the wait to actually be worth it.

If I wrote this on TPR at this time I would've been destroyed and gotten a 1 week ban because a legitimate worry about the ride is apparently not true because apparently less than around 800 pph is okay at a big park like this.

I could see this fitting better at SFNE or a smaller park where this would fit in just great.

Also this whole 4D concept never really stuck for me. The rotations are never smooth and always jerky. Maybe if there was a restraint for your head, the ride would be more comfortable.

You see, that right there is the problem with TPR. You voice your opinion and if it disagrees with the mods enough you get banned. That's why a lot of people say they agree with some points they make when I can tell they don't.

I completely agree with every word of this rant. SFGadv wasn't the best choice for this ride, a smaller park would have been a much better IMO. That being said I'll definitely try it out either on Passholder Preview Day or Media Day if I can attend for CC, probably the only times I'll be able to get on without waiting 5+ hours.

Hmm...
2016 - TOTAL MAYHEM - (1/19/16) I haven't seen any pictures to prove anything yet, but one reader reports that they say the track pieces for Total Mayhem at the park and that instead of the red and yellowish rails as seen in the animated preview video, the railed appeared to be green and purple instead, much like The Joker at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Can anyone else confirm this?

Well SFGADV isn't really known for making great decisions. My two favorites are:

Building the Chiller and realizing that they do not have enough power to operate both sides together.

Building Zumanjaro and realizing that it could never run with KK due to state violations.

I wouldn't be surprised by this...at all. The full name is "The Joker's Total Mayhem", so it's possible the colors have changes since the announcement. I guess we'll see...
