Keyframing Rotation Error, Help!

I was using the keyframing in blender to animate a rocket swing I made, but it's rotating on the wrong axis, does anybody know whats going on?!?!?

A video would be nice. I just can??t even imagine, which axis do you mean..

But to solve your problem:
Maybe an empty could help you out. It??s nothing new in Blender. I don??t wanna link to another side, but i think bestdani has the same problem.
The empty will take care of your axis and should be the parent.. and all other moving parts the children of it.

Does this scripting method work effectively for a pirate ship or any swinging rides? :)

You could use a physic simulator in a 3D Programm... and bake this simulation to a simple keyframe animation.
