Valleyfair hasn't made their 2016 announcement just yet (according to the park's Twitter page, they should be announcing something today), but in the meantime, I noticed a permit application on the City of Shakopee's website for the demolition of the amphitheater. The amphitheater has just been sitting there unused for the past several seasons, wasting lots of perfectly good land, but now the park finally wants to demolish it. There are a lot of possibilities for what they could put there, though I think a Mondial Frisbee (Delirium clone) would be a good fit. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

That looks like a good plot of land for flying scooters!

That actually seems like it would fit in that area very well and possibly allow for a double station.

Well, that was anticlimactic. Do they really have to leave me hanging for the whole weekend?

Anyway, "Waiting for the eggs to hatch" sounds like it could hint to "Flying Eagles" (Larson Flyers).

I don't think announcing a new ride on 9/11 would've been a good idea.

They announced the waterpark expansion last year on 9/11, so I'm sure that isn't the problem.

I suppose it's possible that they could get both Flying Scooters and a Frisbee because there are plenty of open spaces in the park where Flyers could fit, and I can't see why they would replace a big amphitheater with such a small ride.

Who cares when they announce it? It's the f***ing Mondial revolution and some bitch scooters. We get it. The marketing team at Valleyfair is more excitable than a 3 month old baby. As long as it has colors and a name, it's worth announcing.

Looking at the bird's view (Thanks, Google!) of that park, it seems like they can build a 100' tall coaster. I hope to see track interactions with "Wild Thing".

Using this logic it's worth announcing the planting of a tree.

Next year, Valleyfair will mark its 40th anniversary with a season-long celebration that includes the return of an original park favorite and the renovation of a popular entertainment venue to feature an all-new extreme sports show. Throwback-inspired events and parties will also be part of the line-up as the park celebrates their legacy and heritage in the Twin Cities market.

Time To Earn Your Wings! A Valleyfair original makes its return in 2016! Guests will have a chance to earn their wings as the park reintroduces the Flying Eagles. New Venue Makes Way For New Entertainment - Valleyfair's outdoor amphitheater has played host to a number of well-known artists over the past forty years. Starting this fall, the space will undergo a complete renovation for future events including an all-new extreme sports show in 2016.

All Wheels Extreme, a finalist on NBC's hit show "America's Got Talent" brings its high-flying extreme sports show to Valleyfair. The show will feature some of the top professional inline skaters, skateboarders and BMX bicycle performers in the world. Dancers, trampoline artists and aerialists add a theatrical element to create a one of a kind production that will excite audiences of all ages.

???During the past four decades, Valleyfair has been a wonderful way to bring people together, connect generations and create memories that will last a lifetime,??? said Dave Frazier, Vice President and General Manager of Valleyfair. ???The 2016 season will serve as a great opportunity for guests to recreate some of those shared moments and make some new ones along the way.???

Valleyfair will open for its 40th season on Friday, May 13.

Even though I'm looking forward to riding Flying Eagles for myself as I've never ridden flyers before, I am still a little annoyed that VF seems to be making no real effort to build a new roller coaster or thrilling ride in the dry park. 2007 (Renegade) was the last time anything truly thrilling was added to the dry park.

I wish it was illegal for parks to have such dry spells.

As sad as this is, you're probably right. ;)

I'm a little disappointed that they're only removing the amphitheater instead of removing it altogether, but I guess it's better than just letting it sit there doing nothing.

I mean just adding flyers seems a bit lame. Those can go up in a couple days.
