This is how the victims are doing:

I know it's probably distasteful and all that, but... Leah is hot.

^ I'm surprised that they all seem to be fine. I'm relieved to see them in this photo and hear their voices through the media. I honestly thought that they were still traumatized.

Judging from their faces, I believe they are forgiving Smiler. :)

I didn't know Elvis was on the train.

To perhaps burst some people's bubbles but this is apparently part of the ongoing investigation - although I can't find any direct quote from Alton Towers

Videos were uploaded of the ride appearing to be tested, but bosses have said that this is part of the ongoing investigation after the crash which left four people seriously injured.

Its probably getting put down. Not just because of the injuries, but how long it took to rescue them, its history, its downtime (from what I hear, I'm in the US ), and also I'm not sure if it would hurt or help if the final rulings are human error. That would put AT exclusively at fault

^personally, i don't think alton towers will be in a hurry to demolish an 18 million pound roller coaster.

Gosh... if they really demolish Smiler, Jammy will be sad, too. :(

+1 There are a lot more reasons they probably won't demolish it, but money is the biggest factor. $30 million is not a small investment you can just throw away

The main reason they won't demolish it, though, is that there's absolutely nothing wrong with it.

My proposal still stands from when this first happened.
Oh, were you expecting something here?

I still doubt the ride will be removed - as Jammy said they've installed control boxes around the ride - why would they waste money on that?

I personally don't want to see it taken down. Its my favorite ride Ive never ridden haha. But I also know coasters and rides have been decommissioned for far less gruesome and publicized incidents. And its rarely about the wishes of the park in terms of losing investments. Insurance, local gov, public sway, and the Staffordshire version of Westboro Baptist Church fun haters mightput more pressure on the situation than I think is getting credit here. Will it end up like Drachen Fire or The New Texas Giant? That could ultimately depend on how the gavel falls

Honestly I bet they'll just open it next season and pretend it never happened.

Also the investigation may be taking for frigging ever because they're addressing other issues at the same time, like the random bolts that fell out of the ride at one point in the morning.

I don't recall Smiler ever beheading anyone or locking them in an iron cage and setting them aflame or using them as a sex slave.

^^^^But rides have also remained open for far worse incidents. Mindbender killed 6 people yet it's still running. If the accident was mechanical, then it would be considerable. But this was certainly human error, meaning there's technically nothing wrong with the ride
