TOGO

TOGO makes all kinds of great coasters over in Japan...but whats in the US made by TOGO? A bunch of scrap steel thats what! I swear, they must send us the unused track peices of the huge coasters they make in Japan and hope we can throw something together (Viper @ SFGAdv). I'll admit, Viper has 2 of the best inversions I've been through and a killer drop but it's way too bumpy and short! It's like a dangerous kiddie coaster!

So what do you people think of TOGO?

They suck, but their heartlines are pretty cool.

I never have riddin one, but they don't look that great to me.

Slow...That's why Knotts got rid of theirs cuz it would stall if there were a slight breeze. That's pretty sad/

TOGO rides like real painful to me, but imo TOGO is a forgotten company. I beleive they went/are bankrupt and realy dont have the money to churn out any more of there big coasters. Togo in many respects do have great ideas, like there stand-up and sit-down coaster, but being placed in Japan knowones really heres anything about them

Togo coasters are poorly engineered, making for quite a rough ride, but the only Togos I have ridden are the standups, and they are so much more exciting, even if they bang you around a big, then the B&M standups. Togo at least has something called "air time". Most coasters forgot what that was.

The standup harnesses on Togos arent very bad at all. As good as could be expected. I think the whole Idea of a standing coaster was doomed from the start, being just a flailing attempt to prolong the popularity of the outdated megalooper concept...

If you look at POVs of coasters like Bandit and even moreso, Fujiama, they look to be incredible rides. Too bad we never got any of them on this side of the drink.

Its not a matter of, do the track guages match up? If B&M wouldnt to create a standup/sitdown coaster the trains would be modified to fit the track correctly, the size of the track doesnt really matter, as long as it can support the weight

i wish we had some Togo rides herein america. maybe SFWOA will get one soon....not![:)]

ultra twister at SFAW... hated it! it was so bumpy and the restraints were the most unpleasent restraints i have ever felt! i hate togo...

The only TOGO standup that I have been on in the USA was the King Cobra at PKI which operated from 1984 to 2001. I am 6ft tall and the ride on it was great. The ride has only 1 inversion (loop after the first drop) but it had a kick a** helix that banked at 90 degrees, one large floater hill, trick track and it had major air time with two bunny hills. You just had to make sure that the bicycle style seat was not too close to the well, um, you know what I mean. See (http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery68.htm) for pictures of it.

From RCDB there are three identical TOGO standups in the Americas and all of them are at Paramount parks:
1) PKI King Cobra 1984-2001
2) PKD Shockwave 1985-present
3) PCW SkyRider 1985-present

King Cobra was on sale for $4 million if i remember correctly. It was auctioned on some website

If I was rich I'd buy it and have it in my back yard like Michael Jackson's Neverland Just kidding. That would boost my electric bill so much and cost for installation and everything else including maintenance for a crappy ride would be terrible.

I'd buy it then sell it to my local theme park, as it is about a 2 min walk down the road. I mean they have so much space there its unbelievable. They also mentioned that they were getting a $1.5 million ride. Which im geussing can only really be a half decent flat ride, otherwise another crappy kids coaster.

Tell them to get a Huss Top-Spin Ride. The are so cool. But the restraints hurt males some times [:)]

I never have a problem with the restraints but sometimes i'll slide into the seat and forget that section that sticks up from the front of the seat is there. Talk about nutcracker...lol
