Your submission was Rouge Rattler with a score of a 4.35

Here you passed with caution (this was accepted):

Here you had a tunnel that did not pass the maximum height zone:

Here you went out of bounds clearly. This was not an exception and lowered your score tremendously:

Rattler Reborn:

This was actually a track that we had an argument about over what and how we should score it. We had a debate on if we should count this or not but due to fairness of other tracks we ended up having to count it as out of bounds. Remember we were being extremely nitpicky.

Image

Due to this I was unable to judge it on my end which resulted in a lower score than you could have gotten. Personally I enjoyed this track very much.

Because daniel is busy with school, and I am as well with filming and practices. And Tristen with band.

So we have to split it up as we are able to write up the results on our end.

In 6th place with a score of a 4.65

Revenge of the Rattler by The_Coaster_Team

Here are the comments by the judges:

titanrocks01: The thing that stuck out for me was the clearance fail, the trim stopping the train completely, and the valley after the trim was released in multiple spots. This is what mainly brought your score down in the operations and safety categories, and eventually overall. My suggestion is to replace the trim and put it somewhere else on the layout, or if you wish to keep it in that spot, possibly put the speed to a higher let through speed or also put a transport in there so that way in case it does stop the train, you have something to propel it forward through the rest of the track

Blase Rhine: Overall we enjoyed this track very much. The flow of elements was beautifully crafted and your layout packed a punch. However, it was the technical and non-uniqueness of your ride that failed to impress. Overall your technical side caused a valley as well as a crash on the track. As for uniqueness we also were not impressed by your choice of unique elements. While there were plenty of other choices it seemed like you did the minimum to get by and yet focus more on the total aspect of your ride. Overall your ride had safe g forces and stayed in bounds. Again, it was just the technical side that brought your score down lower.

Meta: You got a relatively high score here for your somewhat custom supports, though you definitely could have done better. While most of your bents were well placed, many of them ended up sharp due to the fact that you only used free nodes and connected the ends instead of using beam nodes. Your effort to create cages was noted and appreciated, however, one of your cages was too thin and didn't match the others. Additionally, there was little to no lateral supporting, which lowered your score. Your "use" of the stilt supports was honestly a letdown, as you seemed to just connect them as an afterthought. Overall, I saw potential in your supporting skills wasted in my opinion, as I believe from what I saw that with a little practice, time, and effort, you could make some truly great support structures.

Ragin' Rattler by FuriousHornet

Here is some feedback that the judges have given you

BlaseRhine: I personally enjoyed this track. The flow of elements was very nice and it was refreshing to see this ride in a wooded area. On my end of the judging, you passed all categories. The only issue I found is your ride did not pass clearance and there were several pumps in your track. Another quality was your track color. We all enjoyed this and it seemed realistic. Overall you did a great job on this ride.

Meta: You did really well in this category. Your cages were relatively good, though they could've been better; your bents were spot on, but wood that thin just wouldn't hold up that weight, even in bulk. Furthermore, though your lateral support structures were rather appreciated, I question the need for the pole supports. In some places, the lateral supports you made would have sufficed, while in others you could have simply elaborated on the lateral support structures you already had built. Finally, your use of the stilt structures was rather appreciated, as you actually took the effort to raise the support structure of your coaster. I was a bit disappointed that you didn't elaborate on the stilts and connect them, but you were not marked down for this. Overall, you have a lot of raw potential that I can see, you just need a little more time than this competition perhaps afforded you to really shine.

Titanrocks01: There were a few places that you did not pass clearance with, some were with caution, and others were very obvious (pm me for more details). Another thing that majorly dropped your score on my end was that when the 2nd train was put into storage, the train "ran off the track" and crashed into the storage building. Other than that, the only other major issue on the operations and safety end was the clearance test fails, but needless to say, that you were not the only one with this problem.

In 4th place with a score of 6.25 is....

Albuquerque Sidewinder by rcdude!

Here's some advice and feedback!

Blase Rhine:

Again a solid submission, we enjoyed the unique track work and the high banking. We enjoyed how you were able to make this ride thrilling but not over the top while doing so. As for unique elements your coaster scored extremely high due to the "hanging curve" element. We absolutely loved it and it was executed near flawlessly. Overall great work and we enjoyed being able to judge this ride.

Metazoanhaddock:

You really showed a lot of promise here, which I guess is why I was so disappointed. Though you did make cages, most of them were small and rather weak. The one long cage you had wrapped around the track instead of following the footprint and connecting with the extended bents. You did make the actual effort to customize the automatically generated lateral supports and that actually ended up making a difference in a competition that many competitors chose not to. Still though, you lacked lateral supports in key places, and this ended up lowering your score. Finally, though you didn't use the stilts in any manner except their default formation, I was rather impressed with your creative use of supports to connect the auto-generated structure to them. Unfortunately, your ability to create said structure showed me that you have the potential to do so much more than you did and that disappointed me a bit. Overall, you did well, but I felt that you honesty could have done a lot better.

Titanrocks01:

When looking back on this one, there were a few places of the clearance failing, but in the weirdest of spots of all things. Liked the yellow rails, however it would probably fade out to like a puke color in the New Mexico sun, so watch out for that. If you want more info as to where, I can send you pictures, just send me a pm and I can talk with you about it. The storage was nicely located, plus the transport tire before the switch track helped give the train that extra little boost that it needed to get back to the station, so thank you on that part.
P.S. completely off topic btw, but between the three judges, your track became known as the AS S track between the group, so thank you for the laugh when your track would come into the conversation

Wow, after seeing the other entries I thought I'd be in the bottom. I guess being a novice doesn't mean you can't do a good job. A few replies to the judges' comments...

Blase Rhine: Before I started building, I spent a good hour researching the New Mexico Rattler and came to the conclusion that while it is a thrill coaster, it is not an extreme coaster. Therefore, I focused my design on the same idea...make it thrilling, but not so extreme that people may be scared off. The hanging curve is something I originally came up with when doing a prediction for the RMC Roar conversion and it just happened that New Mexico Rattler had a perfect place to reuse the element. I'm glad you all liked it.

Metazoanhaddock: I'm sorry I had to disappoint you with the supports, and I disappointed myself as well. Unfortunately, I got all the trackwork finished and then got unexpectedly busy and went nearly three weeks without any work on the coaster, which left me just the final weekend to do all the supports. I knew when I submitted the design the supports were pretty much at the "rough draft" stage and could kill the design, but it was submit or drop so I just had to go with it. This is the first time I've done any level of custom supporting on a wood coaster, so I'm sure next time it will be a lot better.

Titanrocks01: I was constantly adjusting this one to be rules compliant up until the very end, so I'm guessing I must have missed a couple clearance spots. I'll send you a PM as I'm curious where they are. The storage track was my third attempt at that section (originally I tried a transfer on the final brakes and then a switch before them), but that seemed the most space efficient and is able to add/remove the train in manual block like most modern coasters. I'm glad I was able to give you all a laugh with my name...it was unintentional, as Albuquerque Sidewinder just happened to be the first name I came up with when trying to think of an alternate "location snake" name.

Thanks to all the judges for their feedback and for running this contest. It was definitely a fun challenge.

In 3rd place with a score of a 7.3

Rattlers Revenge by Coasterguy2000

Here is some feedback from the judges!

Meta: Of all the contestants, you definitely did the best in the supporting category. Your supports were detailed and realistic for the most part, and it really helped to raise your score. Your use of the stilt supports was honestly the best of the competition, and precisely what I had in mind when I created the blanks. The only real issue with your structures was that for some reason you left certain vertical members on your cages as thin wooden supports when you could've easily changed them to I beams like the rest of the cage. Finally, your drop supports were a bit sparse at the top, try making additional vertical structures halfway between the default vertical members for the steeper drop sections. Overall, I truly enjoyed your track and it was my personal favorite. I look forward to seeing what else you can do.

BlaseRhine: You did an amazing job with this submission! We absolutely loved it as well as following your build from the beginning. Your trackwork was outstanding and your supporting was amazing. Overall you exceeded expectations and provided us with a very solid ride. Your g forces were in check and your coaster passed the template as well. The main issue for us was the uniqueness of your track. Overall it provided a fun and thrilling ride but lacked in uniqueness. You definitely could have and we wished you would've expanded more on that aspect. Other than that we all enjoyed this ride very much and congratulations on 3rd place!

Titanrocks01: There were many spots in which you passed the clearance test with extreme caution, and then there were places that you definitely failed the test. Another thing that I noticed is that when I tried to add a train from the storage track, it valleys on the switch track, and therefore can not be added. You definitely gave us some fighting issues, which was enjoyable to say the least (at least for me anyways). If you want pictures of what exactly I am talking about, PM me with the track name so that way I know which one to look at, as well as which one to send you pictures of.

In 2nd place with a score of a 7.44

Roar Roads by Afro85

Here are some feedback from the judges!

Meta: You did well here, But you definitely could've done better. For starters, you were rather inconsistent with how you decided to support the track. In some places, you used the stilts as a base to make cages, which albeit creative, baffled me a bit. Furthermore, while you did successfully make a rather decent looking cage, it was the only one you made and you instead opted to just make inverted triangles that only connected to the rest of the supports at one point, and this ended up being the big thing that lowered your score. What saved you, however, was your innovative Immelmann supports. Finally, though you chose to use auto-lateral supports early on in the design, I was a bit confused as to why you decided they were unnecessary for the later portions as you elected to use a wooden structure as opposed to a steel one. Overall, your track was innovative and creative, but some aspects of your support structures were lacking.

BlaseRhine: Again, another fantastic submission. Us judges absolutely loved the inversion on this coaster. Each aspect was seemed to have been carefully drawn out and overall this was an outstanding and kick ass ride. I personally loved the small touches such as the custom sound and setting you placed your coaster in. Your trackwork was near flawless and your coaster did have safe and comfortable g forces. There were a few clearance issues that I'm sure Titanrocks01 will expand more on. Again thank you for participating. Congratulations on 2nd place!

Titanrocks01: As what Blase said, there where many instances for which you failed the clearance test, as it was very consistent to the overbank turns, I can send you PM if you wish, and if so, PM me with the track name so that way I know which one to look at. The overall track work was nice, but as said before, the track consistently failed the clearance test, and this is why your score for the operations and safety end was lower than the other scores given to you. As always, PM me if you have any questions or if you have any concerns/questions as to what I am saying.

In 1st place with a score of a 7.7

NMNRA by Mkingy

Here is some feedback from the judges!

Meta: Though I did appreciate your inventive and innovative use of T-Rex track to opt out of a serious wooden support job, I feel that you definitely could've done better with what little you had to do. For starters, parts of the track felt a little unsupported, which was still fine until I found a spot that you seemingly meant to put a support and just neglected to entirely. I thoroughly enjoyed your lift hill supports, specifically the section directly beneath the track; it showed skill and discipline. Unfortunately for you it meant I was a bit disappointed with the rest of the product. many of your shorter beams were crooked or rotated improperly (though I'm sure you rotated them to the best of your ability). Your use of the stilts was rather good considering you managed to fit them to your support spacing. Overall, despite the few problems with your supports, I really enjoyed this ride, and I could see it fitting in at Cliff's better than any of the other entries. The fact that you opted for just one inversion and a shorter layout shows me that you took the time to look at what the PARK asked for and not just what you'd like to see them build. You managed to make a design that was fun, family-friendly, and relatively short to fit the park's low budget. In the end these factors were what pushed you over the top and allowed you to win this competition.

BlaseRhine: Well here it is, the first place track for the October Quarterly Contest! With a score of a 7.7 NMNRA wasn't to disappoint. We LOVED the track idea. You scored as high as you could on the uniqueness category since there was nothing like this in other submissions. Overall your elements provided a nice and realistic coaster for us to enjoy. Your trackwork was really smooth with only one area that kind of pumped a bit (the airtime hill into the outerbank). It was very refreshing to see what could be done with the "T-REX" track. Your coaster passed the template with ease and provided a very realistic adaptation to what could have been. You also had safe and comfortable G forces. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed this submission and thus concludes the October Quarterly Contest. Congratulations on 1st place!

Titanrocks01: Congratulations on winning the competition, and you definitely gave us a lot of thinking as to where to put the top three tracks to say the least. There was one issue that I had with yours and that was on one of the steel beams, you passed with extreme caution, if you wish to know which one, PM me and I can show you (please put track name in subject line). Overall for the operations and safety end, that was the only thing that I noticed, so congratulations to you kind sir.

To all of the contestants who entered: If any of the contestants has any questions/concerns/comments about the score that was given to you by me, please don't hesitate to send a PM to me with your track name in the subject line of the message and I will get to them as soon as I can, as my schedule is fairly tight right now. For those that have already sent me a PM, I have received it and will get back to you in the pursuing week/weekend
