UK and European Meetups 2016 - Liseberg Details

A topic for discussing, organising and hitting up some parks in 2016 in the UK / EU!
Confirmed

• Liseberg - free entry to Coastercrazy members!

Almost Certain

Opening Weekend:

• Thorpe Park for the new Derren Brown designed ride!

UK Trips:

• Alton Towers for whatever they have up their sleeve for AIR!
• Blackpool for Skyforce!

European Trips:

• Phantasialand Weekener because Taron and Black Mamba

Other Possibles

• Northern England Long Weekend (Flamingo Land, Lightwater Valley and Blackpool)
• Southern England Long Weekend (Southend Pleasurebeach, Margate Dreamland (Scenic Railway), Chessington, Thorpe Park)
• Tayto Park for a Weekend of drinking Guinness and maybe a rollercoaster thrown in for good measure...
• Trips with the ECC (next years trip list is TBC bar their USA tour which I can't afford!)
• Kolm??rden Wildlife Park for Wildfire

Thoughts? Availability? Concerns?

Mother of god, that's quite the selection! I won't be able to afford any of it, but I'll try! I definitely plan to hit Thorpe Park a couple times, and maybe Alton once.

Yeah, aiming high and maybe we'll get to some of it (Jammy has done Liseberg in a weekend so we know that's possible).

The long weekenders could be split up and done separately too and to be perfectly honest - I'd rather do less trips with more people! So if moneys tight and you can only make one then we'll try and work the dates round you (and anyone else for that matter!)

Liseberg is something for next year again, same as Kolm??rden. It's not a matter of choice when taking the nearest one. It's 3h to Liseberg and it's 3h to Kolm??rden.
But I'm not going anywhere this year anymore.

Being in Plymouth with no car and limited cash makes things difficult, but I'm up for working out anything south england-ish. especially anything merlin, my card hasn't seen enough use!

Are you permanently based in Plymouth at the moment? I guess Thorpe Park opening weekend will be good as you'll have plenty of time for advance tickets.

Can I afford it now? Probably not.
Will I still do them? Probably yes.

I might be going to Alton Towers for a couple of days after the easter holidays are over if nothing else comes up at that time of year.

Well I have some classmates who are very excited to go to theme parks, shall see if they wish to go to meets. if not, train tickets it is!

Quick Update regarding this guys.

Thorpe Park opens on March 17th - opening hours 10am ??? 5pm. This means opening weekend is 19th / 20th March.

The caveat to this is that opening hours steadily increase the next weekend (9:30am ??? 6pm) so would people prefer to go a week afterwards given we should get an extra 90mins in the park?

Other dates for me personally are on hold until I find out about the ECC trips which are to be announced fairly soon. I'll start organizing the moment these are announced.

Okay so the new attraction doesn't even open until late spring (probably June I guess).

Makes sense not to go till the new attraction is open - so the question is: Delay Thorpe Park till later this season and choose a different park for the March / early June visit or just wait for the annoucement for the new ride and go then?

I'm happy to go later for the longer opening hours, makes sense. I don't mind going on a Monday or Wednesday either if it means queues will be shorter, but I can't do Tue, Thu or Fri.

I'm happy to go with longer opening hours. right now I can't say for sure on weekdays, but weekends are always good.

Dropped in some prospective plans for visiting Liseberg!

It would be possibly ideal to squeeze a meet or during summer term - ie. Late June early July.

Damn, that sounds good. Shouldn't have an issue doing something like that in April. For Helix, I might even consider missing a Wolves game lol.
