I've seen quite a few people message about similar problems and as yet I have not been able to find a solution for this problem. The only suggestion I can make is trying to record in a Preset Resolution from the menu. Sometimes this helps.
Also, what playback software are you using (VLC, WMP etc...)? Finally, you have to remember that AVI files are huge in file size and dependent on memory usage of your PC, playback quality may compromised.
