ohio only has one more coaster than texas and if astroworld wasn't knocked down we would have more. oh but yall could also bring up the guaga lake thing, so...
It depends on what you're looking for. If you want the best overall and well-rounded roller coaster selection, Ohio probably has the best selection, but if you're looking to ride coasters year round, it's a toss-up between Florida and California.

Out of the list I would say Texas though I picked other. I agree with PA being a top state.
But if your looking at similar land mass. you might as well look at all 7 New England states as compares to large states like Ohio, TX, CA, PA, etc. 6 of the 7 states have parks. each containing 1-11 coasters. come 2016 there will be 38 coasters (not Including Fire ball at SFNE) at 1a parks, 1 FEC, and and 6 mountain resorts. of the 38 coaster count is a The number 1 Woodie, number 2 steel. a top rates new Steel coaster(Wicked Cyclone), One of the US's only only Euro Fighter(Untamed) 2 Family GG woodies, 3 Classic woodies over 75 year old, A modern CCI woodie, 2 Wild mouses, 2 Zierer large model coasters, One of the only operating Hopkins steel coasters, 2 spinning coasters, A floorless, a GIB, 6 mountain coasters, 1 custom indoor coasters, and many family and moderate thrill coasters. LC is getting a Premier triple launch coaster next year and Rumors are talking about new coasters for Canobie and Edaville.
Ca For sure! The largest collection of Year Round riding anywhere in the country, not to mention, 2 amazing seaside wooden coasters, the largest variety of any state and the only place anywhere in the world you can find Ghostrider. I also want to add that CA is home to more coaster "Firsts" than any other state. Here are some examples:
KBF- Corkscrew, worlds first 360* looping coaster; Xcelerator, worlds first "rocket" coaster; Windjammer(defunct) worlds first racing wild mouse. Disneyland- Matterhorn, worlds first tubular steel tracked roller coaster SFMM- X2, worlds first 4D coaster; Revolution, worlds first vertical looping coaster; Superman EFK, worlds first coaster to top over 400 feet;
there may be more, but, that is all I can think of at the moment.
Overall, I'd have to go with California. In addition to having the largest quantity of roller coasters in the country, California has an excellent variety of rides and has several coasters that are one-of-a-kind in North America. The only state that I'd say rivals California is Pennsylvania, which also has a number of good coasters and many classic rides. Ohio always seems to be a favorite among enthusiasts, but while that state may have the highest count of top 50 rides (up to eight depending on which poll you use) the rest of the coasters are mostly average or below.
Coaster Count: 535 (114 wood, 444 steel); Park Count: 110 Top 5 Wood: El Toro, Voyage, Thunderhead, Outlaw Run, Boulder Dash Top 5 Steel: Superman the Ride, Fury 325, Millennium Force, X2, Intimidator 305
Ye Cali's got a lot. Knott's has an excellent selection of rides and SFMM has Riddler, Viper, X2, Revolution, Tatsu and a bunch of other mediocre stuff.

That's like finding a Waffle House with no white trash in it.
I find it hard to see CT by itself the best place for coasters. there are only 5 coaster a 6th on the way at 2 parks. Boulder dash and Wooden Warrior are the only 2 that are that good. Wildcat is fun and gettign better with rehab. but your left with 2 kiddie and a boomerang. Phobia will help
But look at MA SFNE has 11 coasters and Edaville 3.
