I have some opinions on this...

This is a great way to make new members feel wanted and welcomed, but the post counts are going to skyrocket in the 'Site Related' forum.

If we are to continue this welcoming practice, I suggest a "Welcome Forum" or something of the sort be created that has disabled post count (like the Off Topic). I agree, it is getting sort of annoying. Comments?

yep, i totally agree with you Elfman. The welcoming idea sounds like a nice thing to do for new members, but i dont think it should be in the site related fourm category. I think if this continues, this site should have a new fourm category. Not my decesion though, it's all up to the staff.

90% of the people do not post on the forums, 99% of the people that registered go straight to the track exchange. Most don't visit the forums unless they are really needing something. Although I feel welcoming newbies is a nice idea, I don't think it is necessary for a say, welcoming forum. I feel everyone should just jump right into the coaster and ride along [:)]

Wouldn't it just be better if someone PM'd the new users, instead of wasting space in the forums. It could be someones job or something, to PM all new users just to say welcome and hope you enjoy your time here and all that stuff.

I like gouldy's idea best....although it wouldn't be really that hard to make the whole thing automatic, b/c don't you get an e-mail when you sign up confirming your screen name, password, and everything? just send something like "Hi, glad you could join us, blah, blah, blah," and put that right with the confirmation message. Otherwise, it'd be pretty easy to program something in that would PM the user automatically....

It would be pretty easy to send a PM to the user and then create a new topic and it all be AutoMatic
